My concern is by moving to the village towards Albion it really cripples his game from the start. I want everyone to have fun and if I do that I feel like that’s just mean 🙈. I have had pretty good success at moving towards the village AND food towards Rusviet. Also, which player mats are best for Nordic?

@Reign2742 жыл бұрын
Of course it was arrogant to say that and I shouldn't have. But at the time of this video's release, it was accurate to say this. I made this video early on when the Scythe meta was evolving from being released on mobile and players playing more often online. In the early stages of Scythe online, everything I said here was true. It was a time where if you did powerful things (like enlisting) in suboptimal conditions you could win over people who did suboptimal things in suboptimal conditions. I recommend you check out the more recent content where I have tons of videos breaking down the latest meta which do hold up. Type 1 and Type 2 gameplay, diversity, etc. I don't tell you everything must be a certain way, but break down multiple ways to play the game and win based on board and faction setups. This was absolutely unnecessary until the meta had evolved to a point where people were playing well enough that it required you to play optimal things in optimal conditions to win.

I saw your reply full of cuss words get autoremoved but I’ll answer you anyway. I made that video years ago and the meta evolves. I have new videos on scythe strategy as players have gotten better and learned more. Early on you could easily win just going 4 enlists every time. Opinions change. I hope you are mature enough to know that. Just because I said something once doesn’t mean I have to believe it forever. It was good advice at the time, not so much now.

I'm late to the party but at 5:30 can't you just leave 1 worker on steel, move the oil guy to the village. Double produce and a trade to get to 5 workers and enough steel for a mech. Deploy the underpass mech in the village. Next move 1 worker can go to oil and the mech can take the other three to the mountain hex. From there on you can do another produce for 4 steel to get a 2nd speed mech and the next move can take the underpass to the village.

I really enjoy it even though i watch you other videos. One q. Do you consider the innovative board so weak no faction combination is even type 2?
@Reign2743 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment! The innovative board is truly the worst board by far, and if I were playing with friends (not online), I would not allow the innovative board at all. Bit more longform in case you want more explanation - All the gold in the board is tied to a 3 oil non-upgradable upgrade action. Unlike Engineering or Industrial (boards w/ good coins on upgrade), that triple coin upgrade action is tied to trade (not produce or bolster), which means going for it sacrifices your 16 power star and most power in general while not getting any board presence. Produce-Deploy is just a worse version of most boards, it is the best action by far on this board still somehow. Bolster-Build is the best when fully upgraded, but still pales compared to the engineering board which has an extra gold and one less upgrade to get what this board gets. 4 cost with 3 upgrade is much harder to do maximize than any other board in terms of setup. That enlist-move action is just a move action. The entire idea behind this board is you want to get 6 upgrade star before you get going, but that basically means no territory (earliest achievable turn for upgrade star on factions w/ oil early is turn 13 which is already entering late game) and little available in terms of other resources to trade for since the upgrade is non-upgradable. It is bad in all the ways patriotic is good. Slow, low coin, highest upgrade requirements to be playable. Engineering and even Industrial are better versions of this, and they aren't even top boards.
@lenakimarctaedius30563 жыл бұрын
@@Reign274 i don’t disagree. However i have won with red and innovation in the boardgame version against more experienced player playing the yellow faction. I think since the red can take the same action indefinetly one can mitigate it’s flaws. And rush the game. I also think move and enlist is quite powerful. Since you want to move a lot as the reds. But agree it is difficult with most of the other factions. In the online version i don’t know (i haven’t tried online version). There you can more easily see the points which make it a slight different game.
@woodpeckerer2 жыл бұрын
@@Reign274 I'd be curious to know how long your games last. The reason the innovative board is so powerful and is actually the best board in the game is because it can end the game and yield six stars extremely quickly. As such, the minimal coin you get from the board is inconsequential because you'll get most of your coins from stars and territories before your opponents have had a chance to get their economies rolling. It is true that an eighteen turn agricultural combination will probably do better than an eighteen turn innovative combination, but the innovative board frequently allows you to end in under fourteen turns. Yes, it is true that all the coin is tied to an expensive upgrade action, which is why it's better to prioritise ending the game quickly and not go for the upgrade star on innovative. More generally, the power star is not usually viable because getting it means delaying getting combat stars and making the game go on longer. It also only works if you are planning on doing the bottom row action under bolster. While it can work in stall games, in which you try to make it so that if someone places their sixth star before you do, you win because you have more coins, innovative is extremely unsuited to stall games. So why is the innovative board so good at ending the game quickly? It's because if you want to rush the game, the stars you want to go for are combat, combat, objective, worker, mech, and enlist. Mech and enlist are the two strongest bottom row actions, and the other stars are simply easier to get. Innovative is extremely good at doing all of these. Produce, being the best way to get large amounts of resources and the worker star, is over deploy, making deploying efficient and easy. Move, an action required for combats and usually objectives, is over enlist, the other bottom row action you want for a star, reducing dead turns. Trade is over upgrade, allowing you to fairly easily get one or two upgrades at the start of the game to increase efficiency. Produce over deploy allows you to get mechs out very quickly, making it anything but "a worse version of most boards". This is why industrial is a very effective board to rush the game, though not as effective as innovative because upgrading is harder and move is over build. Bolster over build may be the best innovative column when fully upgraded; however, it should not ever get to that point as the amount of turns it would take to fully upgrade that action would slow your game down. That particular column DOES pale in comparison to the engineering board, as the engineering board is exceptionally good at getting upgrades and buildings, but innovative is still a far superior board to the engineering board because the engineering board, being bad at getting mechs, cannot rush the game as effectively. I'm not sure what you mean by "the enlist-move action is just a move action", the move and enlist action on innovative is its strongest column along with produce and deploy. The entire idea behind innovative is not to get the upgrade star; in the amount of time it takes to get the upgrade star (thirteen turns, like you said), you want to have ended the game with many combinations. Yes, innovative makes way less coins than patriotic, but it is much, much faster than it. At the end of your comment, you also seem to imply that industrial is a worse board than engineering, which it isn't for the same reason innovative is better than patriotic; industrial can end the game much more quickly than engineering. It is for these reasons that you can find many games in under fifteen turns using the innovative board and almost none using the patriotic or engineering boards (kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z5rPlJ2Idq6DnMU and thedailyscythe.com/category/strategy/crimea/innovative/). Rusviet Innovative can end in twelve turns consistently (kzbin.info/www/bejne/n6rPqJd8d6yCbJY and kzbin.info/www/bejne/qJynd5SQecx4gZI), and in eleven turns with the right encounters (kzbin.info/www/bejne/hofHpqttesmWmK8). This is also why on the tier list of faction/mat combinations, innovative combinations are the highest on average (kzbin.info/www/bejne/nojFcnuka7mYeK8). Going beyond anecdotal, watchable examples of innovative's success on KZbin, I'd invite you to take a look at belovedpacifist.com, a website that tracks the results of all the games played on Scythe: Digital Edition. According to the website, innovative has the highest win rate for every faction except for Crimea (consistently) and Polania (at some player counts). Ultimately, the statistics show just what you would expect: innovative is the best board by far.

@sietsejohannes2 жыл бұрын
By trading for metal you can have usually have both your speed and submerge mechs out by turn 6-8 depending on your mat and encounter. I don't think it makes sense to move out onto the board as Polania without speed in most situations, because you would need an extra move to reach the factory card (or next encounter, whichever you go for) which will slow you down by two turns again. I think Polania actually has a decent starting position with food and a village on their island, although Rusviet's and Crimea's positions are better in my opinion.
@lenakimarctaedius30563 жыл бұрын
I really enjoyed the game. Thanx for uploading. If you would have moved out you mech and then let a worker swim to the village, could you have won or was there not enough time? @@Reign274 Somehow my answer keeps disappearing... The Wind Gambit is the second expansion of Scythe, introducing Airships and Resolutions. Resolutions give an alternative way to end your games and are similar to the modular board in a sense that it changes the gameplay quite a bit and makes it less predictable.
