I bought my first bike a month ago. It's a 2300cc Triumph Rocket III. Granted it's not a sport bike so it's very different, but it's a nearly 900 pound bike with a metric fuck-ton of torque. Just don't be stupid with whatever you do get.

Go for a 1k my 1st bike was a hayabusa and you know on which bike i dropped twice? A 50cc and a 150cc. After i rode many bikes. Point being when you buy a big bike youll be more careful

Bro! 22.5 hours riding yesterday. Took off at 3:30am and got home at 2:00am. That was a ride! 🏍 Also got pulled over around 10:30pm for 142 mph in an 80 zone 🚨🚔🏍🚔🚨 which was a lot of fun. Over 110F at lower elevations in the park. I thought the 45 mph speed limit was going to kill me. The first turn was like 26 miles in. Still, a freaking fun ride.

Started on a CBR600rr, it’s definitely doable if you have dirt bike experience but if not, your mistakes WILL be amplified on a bike with that much power. Wouldn’t recommend but doable for the right person.

I’m 230 lbs. 600 frames are too small for me the engine has enough power but the frame feels too small

Should you start on a 600cc? Depends. Depends on the dude-man getting on the bike. Depends on what they want to do with the bike. There are tons of KZbin videos of people who should have started with a bus pass. 🚏🚌 Respecting the bike and using common sense doesn't seem to be in many people's "wheelhouse" these days. Of course Darwin can take care of that problem ... 😅 If I had gotten a 300cc class as my first bike I would have been regretting my decision within 45 minutes on my first ride. It would have been a terrible choice and I'm very happy I didn't do that. I remember 45 minutes into my very first ride on the street thinking, "I'm so glad I didn't buy a 300cc." See, I told ya I would have regretted it within 45 minutes. 😂 You mentioned developing your "techniques" on a smaller cc bike is easier. Yes, and no. I make a distinction between street riding and track riding. To be fast on a smaller bike you have to have better skills. You have to learn braking, cornering, corner enter/exit, body position, all that stuff. On a bigger bike you can make up for that on the throttle, but I don't consider twisting the throttle in a straight line "fast." Pretty much anyone can do that. (And twisting the throttle only gets you so much.) It's not just about MPH it's doing a lot of other stuff right that makes you "fast," stuff that you can learn and practice on track. You may look fast on the street but you can't hide on the track, everything is seen. Skills you develop on the street don't necessarily translate to the track, in fact, you often have to unlearn bad street habits. Skills you develop on the track _do_ translate to the street. I was watching a guy who was just shredding the twisties on an FZ-09 and thought about just how smooth and relaxed he looked. Then I saw his track videos and was like, "Oh, that explains everything. Dude-man's a beast on track." You mentioned how you're not all that confident leaning over in corners, come do a Superbike camp with me at the Circuit of the Americas and I guarantee even two days at the track and you'll be a much better street rider and you'll gain a ton of confidence. That track time allows you to explore the capabilities of your bike at levels you can't do on the street and that will make you a much improved and more confident street rider. Track time helps you develop the skills and confidence to better deal with the unexpected on the road. As for what makes a good starter bike? I pretty much agree with everything you said. It all depends on the person, what they want to do with the bike, all that good stuff. Right now my go to starters are the MT-07 or Ninja 650. They’re not so powerful to be scary for a normal person and not so under powered that you’ll be bored in a couple weeks. For one guy I said an MT-09/-10 but that was because he raced 450’s in motocross. There’s nothing an MT-09/-10 can do that he hasn’t already experienced on a 450. Anyway, my $0.02. Good video, I started off on a 300 they are not bad bikes they are actually great for city and downtown driving, you will learn the basics from them very fast. Not really recommend for the interstate cause you will be pushing the limit on the bike with no passing power at all which in some scenarios can be quite dangerous. A 600cc bike is ok to start off on as long as you understand how a clutch works and respect the power they have, trust me a 600cc bike have plenty of power. Really learn the basics of riding guys and not to slam on brakes especially in turn and you should be alright I also recommend a motorcycle safety course the instructors are really good riders and I learned a lot from mines when I went through. It is 100% legal to use hand signals for stopping or tuning. You do not need turn signals if you use hand signals. ⬅L , ⬆R, ⬇S, and 🖕Get bent. Those are all you need
