I like this stuff.I have put 4 coats on my SUV and I still have about 3/4 of a bottle left.I did do a claybar before I put it on and it holds up very good. The shine is crazy and it goes on easy.I put an extra coat on after one day to get it to pop even more.I will be trying the trim wipes next.

For the rear subframe inserts, 034 Motorsports states you can reuse the hardware. However, since they're stretch bolts I just wouldn't feel comfortable with this. I ordered the replacements and I'm so glad I found this video and the associated part numbers/qty in the description. Thank you so much for a great video and assist on part numbers.

Very good demo video. From what I can understand, all graphene spray coatings are all ceramic coating with a graphene suspension. Graphene is much stronger than ceramic BUT only when the single molecule lattice is intact and if it has any breaks or holes in the lattice then it simply falls apart. This is the problem when using graphene in a suspension. The lattice when applied as a liquid coating like this can never fully form and you are simply left with a ceramic coating which is a good coating, but it is not the harder than diamond graphene and in some tests they report that the graphene can actually interfere with the ceramic bond leaving a lesser quality than ceramic alone.

I think the idea behind toppers is to use a less expensive product to prolong the life of a more expensive product, saving money in the long run. It does sound a bit silly to put protection on your protection, but the logic makes sense.
@DmitrysGarage3 күн бұрын
I don’t really have anything against them, but its really a second product which is not the same as your coating. So it makes it hard to tell how the coating is performing and also the toppers have different qualities than the coating when it comes to looks, slickness, etc... I do use them some times but mainly to temporarily add protection where a coating is starting to fail since they’re easy to apply. I do hate warranties based around their use though since that feels like a total scam.

Same as all waxes and sealants, but much longer lasting. Better looks, reduction in marring, less contamination of the paint, reduction in exposure to oxidative agents, easier washing, etc…

where did u buy the black audi emblem? link for the grill?
@DmitrysGarage4 күн бұрын
Im pretty sure the rear emblem was from ebay. The grille is available everywhere (ebay, aliexpress, random websites). They’re all the same as far as I can tell. I would just buy from a vendor that has it available in your country. The vendor i used drop shipped from China and I had a bad experience with that, it arrived broken, wrong address, etc.. and vendor didnt really want to help much.

Something is up with that scrubbing machine, seems to kill protection way faster than traditional wash. I literally just did a 10 wash test after 48 hours on the paint and Cerakote Rapid Selant had ZERO signs of wear. Also threw on some APC and again zero signs of wear.
@DmitrysGarage4 күн бұрын
The elcometer is not as gentle as hand washing. The goal of the 2.0 suite durability test is to have a very standardized abrasion test to figure out how durable the product is compared to others rather than to compare it to normal washes that can vary significantly. I see some other coatings going for thousands of passes on it vs. the cerakote. Apcs are a different kind of test, that is chemical resistance. I don’t do those as most people dont wash their cars with apcs.

@Snicker605159 күн бұрын
What I wish you folks would stop saying is "installing" these coatings. It's just long lasting wax in a tiny bottle that makes your car really shiny if you did the prep properly. It's not a stereo or an exhaust or anything that requires tools and fasteners to get on your car. It's really just an "application".
@DmitrysGarage9 күн бұрын
I would argue prep requires tools. The process is more finicky than a wax and requires more experience. With wax you miss wiping up a spot and it’s no big deal, with a good coating you have to polish again because it won’t just wipe up a day later. Historically if a person wanted to find someone with the skills to apply the product for them searching for a “coating installer in city X” sounds more natural than “coating applicator in city X” and not all detailers did coatings, most did not early on. Today you can just search detailer and most do it, many are even good at it.

Big promises backed up with even bigger price. Reality check! Multiple Limiting factors there’s product application techniques, condition of paint surface, product age, poor mix, product life once applied. margin of error just as in tools. Never pay top dollar as yield curve is marginal at best. These products are cost prohibitive, their marketing costs are fractional compared to older name brands. The younger consumers today never factor in value for buck.

You are missing a heat test. A crucial quality for any coating or sealant is resisting exposure to the sun, but not because uv, its because of heat, imagine your black car in the sun while you are shopping, in an hour itll be imposible to touch, most sealants fail because of the heat.

Very helpful video, today i worked on a 2018 Audi S4 3.0l and it was so much of a pain. I didn't even know they have that type of oil plug and when we tried to take it out, it got damaged so we had to get a new oil plug for it. Eventually i got the new oil plug, put the new one on. I went to All Data to look up how many quarts and type of filter it takes and it said for 2017-2021 3.0 S4, 7.7 qts. So i got that, put the new oil in. I think i unfortunately spilled a little bit of oil on the engine because when I started the engine. I saw a little smoke and burned oil smell. I check to make sure the oil cap and filter were on and on correctly and they were and then i noticed it was coming from probably where i spilled a little bit of oil on the engine. So i just went and clean it off and no smoke after that. I didn't even know till i watched this video about how they don't have dipsticks, instead theyy got the oil level reader in the screen. Hopefully i did the car right, i always double check everything as well. Thanks for making this video and got to learn something new today.

Re the slight loss of gloss, I'm wondering whether this may be due to less than perfect product removal/levelling. Have you ever tried machine buffing, to REALLY thoroughly level/finish? Maybe using a MF buffing bonnet, or even a soft foam pad? I think this would be an interesting experiment. If it does improve gloss, I can imagine it may come at the expense of longevity, due to the buffing removing too much product
@DmitrysGarage14 күн бұрын
It may be something to play with, though my experience is that buffing is really good at removing coatings quickly. They’re incredibly thin and relatively soft. A quick pass with a soft pad and finishing polish is all it takes for me to re-prep the panels.
