Or is an organic system and it should be fixing itself. The only help it should need is follow basic house rules, add a condensed bacteria chemical in order to break down what is in the tank And the breaks down the build up underneath the leash field. You ain't wrong. I just don't think people will follow this directions

In my younger days I use to install septic systems. The tank needs to be pumped every two years. Ridex is a complete waste of money and is not recommended by me or the health dept. The one and only time I have ever used Ridex was to charge a brand new septic system that was going into service and the temps were down to zero at nights. The Ridex is bacteria to charge the system. Our poop has plenty of bacteria so that's why Ridex is not nessesary.

I don't agree with every 2 to 3 years unless you have many people in and out or living in the residence. Pumping regularity depends on use, generally how many people live in the residence. The more people the shorter the time frame between pumping's. Based on general pumping recommendation with a 1200 gal tank (size does matter), 5 years per person. I use a family of 4 calculation. IMO, your septic should be pumped every 4 years for a family of 4. A 1-person home septic system can go 20 years without pumping. I went 6 years without pumping in one home, sold it. Required to pump it to close the real estate deal. I went 14 years without pumping in another home, sold it. Required to pump it to close the real estate deal. Just me living in the homes. Never had a problem in either case. It's the solids that will build up if you never pump it. It's those solids that will plug up the drain field lines, and you will have problems.
@zetamale795226 күн бұрын
Where I'm at, the septic tank on an existing home just purchased is required to be pumped before the deal can be closed. At close, paperwork required from the septic company to prove it.

I understand your thought process but there are many factors that must be taken into consideration first and foremost is that the washer must never be piped into the septic system the soap for one i have seen leaves a film on the rock and dirt in the drainfield that totally clogs it up and no longer drains as designed into the ground second you brought up bacteria growth in the tank that in theory eats the solids that accumulate on the bottom of the tank whilst the affluent liquids float off the top down into the drainfield this is only in a perfect world where the bacteria is not effected by back to the washer what do ladies use on whites ? Bleach yes you got it and wjat does bleach do to bacteria growth ? Yep kill kill kill bacteria so these are two valid points to pipe your grey water from washer anywhere but into the system then there are so many other household chemicals that clean toilets etc that kill bacteria now ok your bacteria is eating solids what about paper you always use septic safe biodegradable paper ok sure maybe but not likely so if only two people live there and they are older then possibly you could get away with never pumping but thats even a bit risky in my opinion at least after the first five years have it done and see what has accumulated fair enough? Then the more people in the house especially teenagers and young adults every five years is the least it should be done i know its expensive but if that sludge gets high enough where paper amd other solids start floating high enough to start going out the out let where is it gonna go and yes clog up drainfield now this being said in my experience when a drainfirld fails it almost always only the first ten feet or so from the tank outlet out that is clogged if that section can be dig up and replaced then you usually can st least buy a considerable amount of time out of the old drainfield before it all mist be replaced ive done this many times w very good success often roots from nearby trees get in it and clog it up looking for water and its that section thst is the wettest of course now any installer or salesman will tell you yep you need the whole thing replaced of course he is but believe me nine times out of ten its only the first ten ft or maybe more but ots easy to see whem cutting out bad parts how far the intrusion is in the piping ok all free advice for you i hope someone got someone usefil from all this typing lol night

Nice video and I believe under the right conditions you are correct however, I believe with most houses having washing mashines, dishwashers and even soft water softners dumping into the system along with toilet cleaners, etc. there is too much chemical distruction of the good bacteria to depend on theis working. I pump mine every 4 years and use Dr. Pooper tablet once a month with no problems (knock on wood) for 40 years.

All septic tanks needs to be pumped eventually. All that poo is not going to magically dissolve by bacteria alone and when it back up into your house good luck with that!

Hi, plz tell what do you think of a septic tanks system made of 3 plastic barrels properly installed. Do I have to worry about the sludge? The septic tank is only for the toilet water. Shower and kitchen grey water is separated it is filtered and user for watering the garden.

Not all residential septic systems are the same. I run across this a lot. I inspect septic systems for a living. Older homes often will have a separate gray water line for laundry, they are also not equipped with a garbage disposal or dishwasher. Newer homes will have all of these appliances draining into the septic system. These appliances introduce bleach, soaps, and detergents into the septic tank. These chemicals kill the good bacteria in the septic system stopping the process that breaks down the solids in the tank. I inspected a septic tank from the 1890's and the sludge level was less than 10% despite not being pumped in decades. It was still working but it only had a single toilet going to it, everything else in the house was running to a grey water line.

In a perfect world yeah sure the bacteria is going to eat all the solids and you will never have to pump your tank. The problem is this is not a perfect world. There’s this thing called bleach that’s in dishwashing detergent and clothes washing detergent and a lot of other cleaners that’s going to kill the bacteria. That’s why you’ve got to pump it on a regular basis.

Terrible advice. In an ideal scenario, the only thing going into the septic tank is human waste and yes maybe you wouldn't need to pump your tank for many years, but we know that non-digested food and fats/oils make it into the tank regardless of how well the homeowner does to avoid that. This is what needs to be removed on a 2-3 year cycle.

In some North American jurisdictions, it is required BY LAW that in order to complete a sale of a house, the septic must be sucked clean prior to closing. So there's that. Personally, I have mine sucked every three years. It's only $250, no big deal. Pocket change for peace of mind.

Realtor magic, BAUGH! I installed my own sand filter system and built my own house. I do not install garbage disposals in my houses. People will not listen to instructions about what not to flush. We have three adults here. We all know how to treat a system. I just had both tanks pumped for the first time after 12years. It was time… but everything cleaned up beautifully and is like new. I’ll be pumping in every 10 years from now on but will likely die before it’s time again. If one has garbage disposals and kids, I recommend pumping every 5 years. And continually tell them what not to flush , AND WHY!
@herbieschwartz92469 ай бұрын
What he says is theoretically plausible, however if people flush anything that is not "digestible", then things get ugly. Wipes are now the worst thing that ruins septic systems.

So let me get this straight. One man from Minnesota says to not pump a tank, but there are thousands of septic specialists who say that you should. I’ll go with the majority on this one. A septic tank is like a human stomach, the waste is going to have to go somewhere, sometime. Unless you hold it in.
@roberthughes2665 Жыл бұрын
The key is in what you put down the drain. I think every 8 to 10 is probably more reasonable. The problem is people put all kinds of stuff down there that can't breakdown. It's not a city sewer... It's a septic system that relies on microbes to get rid of everything.
@9983sp9 ай бұрын
The problem is, that dead sludge builds up and everytime you flush, it is pushed out into the drain lines, eventually sealing them to where they can't drain.

It is not just about NOT pumping it. It is ALSO about what you are putting into it. If a tank is just getting pee and poop into it with gray water then you can get away with it. But if it is getting grease, paper, food and things that will not degrade then you better darn well pump it and boost reset the bacteria in it. And if you can treat your drain field with bacteria, even better.

Canyon county property taxes are higher than Ada county’s, and counties use all of our houses as cash cows as property value rises and receive more money for not doing anything for it and then raise the levy when values go down, or the governor uses federal money earmarked for small businesses and their employees to prepay first responders portion of property tax and then say HE lowered our taxes, major property tax reform is needed here, and probably won’t happen until all the Californians moving in notice this BS and force a change!
