I have the same problem. Apparently the contacts of the switch corrode and the resistance is too much so it doesn't work reliably. Some days there is no problem and other days it's a hassle to open it. I'm going to order a new switch. But if you have the same problem try opening the hatch with the engine running. In my case the added voltage from the alternator is just enough for it to work.

loving this! I just replaced my alternator and belt tensioner and i think my polo gti is smaller because how do you seemingly move around so freely in your engine bay? but seriously, how did you do the timing belt so easy? every other video shows having to drop the engine on a jack to get access through the wheel well -- if you've got a resource that would help me tackle this the way you did it, that would be greatly appreciated -- looking forward to your next upload!
@daseuro22 күн бұрын
Appreciate these comments! Always hard to do technical and entertaining videos. I'll line up a full run-through on how to perform the timing belt swap. WIth parts and all. We use a MK5 Golf tensioner to make the system more reliable. I wish I had more resources, only have the official manuals from VW. drive.google.com/drive/folders/1R2NBFTibUaPQCCnzAnPB67GOMWf5tdEt?usp=drive_link I've just done enough of these blast through them so quickly. To do the timing belt, you do have to support the engine given that you must remove the engine mount to access the side of the engine block. Using a floor jack with a wide block of timber place it across the bottom of the sump. Jack up the engine so the engine mount is no longer supporting it. That way you can remove the bolts and nut without damaging them. Once disconnected; you do need to raise the engine higher to release the 2x 16mm bolts holding the mount onto the block. And then lower the engine to access the bottom 1x 16mm bolt holding the same mount. Once all 3x screws are removed; jack it up again and you have full freedom with the timing circuit(once the balancer and lower two covers are removed). 10mm socket inserted under the crank pulley to hold the belt in place when installing; Is one is my favorite tricks. Good luck!!

@@daseuro wow thank you so much for the link. what an fantastic resource! -- i'm actually still so blown away with how much detail you've given in your last three paragraphs. This feels like I've just dined at a 5 star Michelin restaurant and the chef has pulled me into the kitchen and shown me a few of his secret techniques. you are 9n3 wizard, i've never seen anyone be more at home with a polo gti than your videos. it's absolutely criminal you don't have more subs. and that's not even touching on how entertainingly funny these videos are too. i cannot express how excited i was to know you'll be working on a full timing belt run through (hopefully in time before my belt needs to be replaced haha) -- you rock! keep up the great work! :D

Internal seal has completely failed. Any pressure applied to the injector, goes right through and into the cylinder! No other way to isolate it other than blocking the fuel supply line.

Hi, in the video you said that current flows constantly while the button is pressed, I just ran a continuity test on mine and it works in the opposite way, current flows when it is released. I’m having issues with my boot so want to rule this out as a working part, is this a mistake on your end?
@hydrapolloАй бұрын
Fyi for anyone else coming here, my issue was the actuator, however checked electronics and all was good, instead of buying a new one a chucked a load of WD40 in it and it’s working now, don’t know if it will last, will have to see
@daseuroАй бұрын
When you have the switch pressed. you have a closed circuit. Current flow only when the doors are unlocked!! It is constantly in a pressed position; until you lift the handle.

Hey im curious if the mk5 steering wheel you have on the black polo has working buttons ?
@daseuroАй бұрын
I have not interfaced them. I have nothing useful to connect them to at this current moment. Might interface them so the entire car runs off those buttons. Pushbutton start, etc
@nirvaansinghtheartistАй бұрын
the reason this video is useless is because when the booth is locked and you cant open it theres no way of knowing in this video
@daseuroАй бұрын
you can open the boot via the interior. Drop the seats down and slide the key into the tailgate trim. There is an opening. Once it is open; two phillips screws, one inside each handle and pull the trim directly downwards away from the tailgate.

Looks like someone put gasketseal everywhere chaseing a exhaust leak from head geasket, i bet that water pump is brand new and there would be gasketseal in it 🤔. How much did you buy the car for? So i can work out if it worth the flip. I would say 500 for car + new motor 1500 is easier then doing the heads + 500 labour, sell it for 4 to 5k yeah. Atlease you found a 10mm socket 😂😂😂
@daseuroАй бұрын
Exhaust leak from headgasket? Sounds like fingers for toes. Not even close mate 🤣 Definitely an exhaust leak, can hear it from outside the car. Will be chasing it up this weekend. Can be gaskets. Can be flex pipe. Can be the manifold too. If someone was bright enough to get down there and mess with it, which I'd not be surprised at all about. Wait until the final episode :) ta

it is possible to swap from the key handle to the keyless handle. i did it on my polo you just have to remove the key barrel and cut the brown and white wire. that used to tell the car that the key was being used to open the boot.
@chadstokes6961 Жыл бұрын
Is that all you have to do. I wanna do a conversion on my polo aswell but don't know where to start. Can you explain in detail how you did it and how you got it to work. Is there any coding involved?
@lord_kek Жыл бұрын
@@chadstokes6961 no coding involved just remove the lock from the barrel so it is no longer sticking out into the way of the keyless boot handle all the original linkages stay in place. and you simply cut the midle wire of the 3 pin connector. its quite stright forward did this a year or so ago so i cant remember all the details hope this helps
