I actually remember this from the original broadcast, that's why I looked it up. God, it was awful.

I actually just got into Prefab after knowing people who were into them for many years...no idea why I was hesitating...it's the best music I have heard in a while...

A brilliant band that seemingly avoided fame and fortune at all costs. Between 1985 and 1990 they never toured or played any live shows, during their most lucrative years.

It's all true, Gods an astronaut, Oz is over the rainbow and Midian is where the monsters live.
I saw you from the tractor Je t'ai vue depuis le tracteur The harvest had begun La récolte avait débuté You were the love child of two gods La fille illégitime des dieux I was the farmers awkward son Le fils du fermier emprunté You left Mount Olympus Tu avais quitté le mont Olympe To find your soul mate Pour chercher l'âme soeur I left a scribbled note, quote J'ai griffonné un mot "Père, "Dear Pa, this here harvest can wait" "Cette récolte attendra son heure" You took a match to my dry August days Une allumette au beau milieu de juillet Cornfield ablaze, cornfield ablaze Les champs en fumée, Les champs en fumée Flames licked the sky Les flammes lèchaient le ciel That was some summer haze et faisaient l'air miroiter Cornfield ablaze, cornfield ablaze Champs en fumée, champs en fumée How do I love you? Combien je t'aime ? Attends Let me count the ways Laisse moi compter Pa don't be angry P'pa n'sois pas colère The fields that were host Les champs où poussaient To the corn and the wheat Maïs et fourragères The fact is they're toast sont totalement grillés In self defense Je dois rappeler I'm obliged to point out Pour me défendre un peu There's always a risk of combustion Quand il y a une sécheresse When there's been a drought Il y a des départs de feu Imagine if the firemen worked Imagine que les pompiers luttent And worked for days et luttent des jours entiers And still the cornfield stayed ablaze Les champs partent quand même en fumée Her hair it was golden Ses cheveux des fils d'or Her hair it was yarn Ses cheveux de lin We were playing with fire On jouait avec le feu In the number one barn Dans la grange numéro un Carried away like two sparks Deux étincelles emportées On a breeze Par la risée Then we fused into one Nous avons fusionnés At a thousand degrees A plus de mille degrés You overwhelmed agricultural man Moi l'agriculteur tout tourneboulé Cornfield ablaze, cornfield ablaze Champs en fumée, champs en fumée You wild pyromaniac daughter of Pan Toi, la fille incendiaire du dieu Pan Cornfield ablaze, cornfield ablaze Champs en fumée, champs en fumée You took a scarecrow Tu as fait d'un homme en paille And made him a man Un homme vivant

This is poor. It does not capture Paddy McAloon's voice at all, not an easy task anyway. He did not sing in a transatlantic accent for one thing. Not sure what the point of this performance is.
@vascofuck20 Жыл бұрын
you are very rude and stupid. if you had even the slightest knowledge of music and Prefab Sprout you would know that the band was pure magic in the studio, but live without any chemistry. they were weak. this band there was dignified and noble. and you're just a donkey, an ass

Paddy Mc Aloon is the last poet in the music industry probably along Brian Wilson. The Sprouts were and remain THE real pop music band. They make the world less grey when listening to their songs.

Can't believe half the charlatans on here that people have taken seriously. An Irish wolfhound who wanted to be called Egremont instead of Sid? Complete bollocks love. And the cat's testicles story? That lady should be in Broadmoor.

I love how this one program gets me thinking back to this time of my life, it's a mixture of worrying about homework I might not have done and the whole secondary school experience in general including friends, girls, on the verge of becoming a young adult with that unknown infinite expanse infront of us called our 'future'... and all of it happening right as technology was starting to get fast and funky. Just brilliant. I'm 34 now and still feel exactly the same.
