The flies in this video were put under anesthesia with FlyNap so that we can study them under a microscope and make crosses. You are probably thinking about mayflies, they only live for 24 hours. Adult fruit flies typically live 40-50 days under ideal conditions, but their lifespan can be affected by several factors: Temperature: High temperatures can stress fruit flies and shorten their lifespan. In hot weather, fruit flies can complete their life cycle in as little as 8-10 days. Food: Both too much and too little food can impact a fruit fly's lifespan. Other conditions: Other conditions that can affect a fruit fly's lifespan include moisture and air temperature.

You’re thinking of Mayflies, which are aquatic and live 24 hours. Drosophila flies are a model species and are using in long term experiments very frequently in biology labs

Interesting! They are growing in a container with eggplant seedlings. The soil is being kept moist but not too much water is added because that would drown the seedlings.

With Type O (ii) and Type (AA or Ai) it is not possible to have a child with Type B blood. I suggest a blood test for all 3 to double-check the type.

Are you sure you typed the genotypes correctly? BcCe is not a dihydrid cross. The "B" has to be matched with another "B", either B or b. Same with C. So doublecheck if you read the question correctly.
