What about if you have done the composition in Acrylics and want to use oil glazing after the acrylic layer has dried? Does it take the same amount of waiting as oils?
@MarcDalessioАй бұрын
I doubt it, acrylics dry very fast. That said, I don't have enough experience with acrylics to give specific advice.

Marc, got to see one of your paintings in the New Salem (MA) art museum. Loved seeing one of your paintings in person.

I would love to see a series of films of an artist revisiting the scenes painted by the impressionists.

I like the broken lights along the top of the bridge against the treeline and hills. I wonder how much a few steps up or down the path you found might have changed it.

Marc, interesting commentary. I hope you do more of these. I've visit "l'etang" at Ville d'Avray that Corot painted. Have you been there?
@MarcDalessio3 ай бұрын
No. This is the only Corot spot I've been to, other than the view over Florence.
@deaconseptember20023 ай бұрын
Friends of ours who lived in Ville d'Avray near Versailles took us to see the lake (pond) where Corot painted. I forget which museum it was but I got to see one of his paintings of the etang. I know you've lived in France but thought you might have been there yourself.

Beautiful painting and an excellent video. Thanks so much for your discussion, and some terrific notes and observations. Corot is one of my favourites. We were in Narni last spring, and I'm back in Umbria now, so it is perfectly timed for me. Now I must get the paints out myself while the nice fall days are here.

"People will think you suck but it's better than having them all hang out". I love this advice, I started painting landscapes because I love being outside but struggle to have nothing to do once I'm there. The first time I tried painting outside I had a weird interaction with a man who wanted to point out all the ways which I sucked (which I was aware of, but didn't really ask for his opinion). And I've painted from photos since then, and I don't really enjoy it.

very good lecturer and teacher. so much useful stuff. Thank you. I wish you could do another video explaining deeper and with examples dawn and sunset golden light painting. Into effect and out effect. It was difficult to understand as non english speaker.

This is by far the best tutorial I've seen on photographing art, thank you so much! I'm wondering why the exported image comparisons are so different using capture1 vs lightroom? Since Lumariver is creating the profile in both cases, shouldn't they be the same? Could it be because you didn't use the lumariver reproduction version for the lightroom profile? To me the capture1 color and contrast detail look much better. I've used lightroom/passport/lumariver standard workflow and not been happy with the results. I will try the IT87 target and I'm wondering if its worth trying capture1 and getting the lumariver reproduction mode.

Great work Marc, pleasure to get a close up view of whats going on. Man, someone once talked to me like the whole time I painted, maybe like 2 hours straight. Painting was a disaster. :D

Great video, loved your video on mixing greens. I can't use oil paint anymore because of allergies so I am using acrylics, hope I can accomplish well done paintings. Looks like some of your canvases have a color ground first, how do you decide on the color

I use the brighter orange grounds for sunny days. It works well with the blues.

This is immensely helpful! I started plein air painting since about 2 years ago, and still struggling with producing harmonious, loose yet compelling paintings (in oil). Your explanation on the Compression of Values (and hues) makes 100% sense, thank you! More technical guidance videos will be so appreciated! Thank you!

I love your ability to simplify the subject, even difficult ones. Do you ever use viridian green?
@trondsi10 ай бұрын
I think this is one reason why some people use stand oil for glazing: it is slow drying and relatively flexible when dry, so the glaze won't crack that easily (correct me if I'm wrong here).

I’m very interested in your pallet and the way you manage your mediums and paints carefully in a small space. I would love to see a video on pallet Management plein aire painting That could be used in the studio as well. I think many beginners would find it useful particularly tend to mix too much paint in the beginning.

Great demo and artwork shown here! I’ve recently been choosing which colors for a limited landscape palette but in acrylics. I like (Cad yellow light, Yellow ochre, Cerulean blue, Naphthol crimson, Raw umber, Chrome oxide green and Ivory black.) I find it can produce a large variety of greens that work together.
