It’s pretty common for RA patients to get anemia and infliximab is one biologic that can treat rheumatoid arthritis but in my opinion it’s far from the first option by treating the disease i.e RA, That might take care of the anemia so for me infliximab would not be on the shortlist

@@ActionPotentialMentoring Are you a rheumatologist? I know hundreds of RA patients, and I don't know one who is using remicade (infliximab) for RA. Remicade is still used for other autoimmune diseases such as Crohns, but there are about a dozen biologics that would be used before remicade for RA, most notably TNF-alpha inhibitors. As for treating anemia with the same drug as RA, RA patients often get anemia, and there can be multiple reasons, such as anemia of chronic disease, deficiency of folic acid, B12, or even more traditional iron-deficiency anemia. You can run differencial diagnostic tests to tell the difference between iron-deficiency anemia and ACD. But to treat ACD, you treat the underlying disease, and other biologics are typically chosen before infliximab for treating RA. Do you have some reason to use infliximab rather than other RA treatments to treat ACD? Do you actually change patients' treatment in clinic based on the presence of anemia?

question about the transition to NBME only from UW in the final days! 1. when before exam should one stop looking at UW and only look at NBMEs? 2. what is/are the most HY NBMEs to look at last?
@ActionPotentialMentoring
@ActionPotentialMentoring Ай бұрын
The newer NBME (12-14) are super high yield You should focus on NBME over UWorld in the last 2 weeks at a minimum For Some students it takes more time to get to the same level of readiness so they require an extra week or two Time permitting, of course, nbme 6-14 are all crazy high yield but the older ones are more likely to have inaccuracies or less commonly tested topics nowadays as the question writers change every few years
