Definitely, Panasonic product managers didn't make this the perfect camera for photographers: no flash, no mechanical shutter, no EVF. But, still, this camera is absolutely brilliand for stills phtography, too. Its AF is fantastic, brutally awesome both Sigma as well as Panasonic (and possibly Leica L-mount) lenses. The LUT feature gives you the possibility to take you photos look amazing OOC, really time consuming. The 24M full frame sensor with the fantastic compact Sigma lenses, 17, 20, 24, 35, 45, 50, 65 and 90 mm is a gorgeous photography combo. I use my S9 camera 50% photo and 50% video. I don't miss flash and mechanical shutter at all, It was 5 years ago when I last used a flash. I don't care the missing internal EVF; but, the only two things I am missing to some degree are: (1) the missing possibility to make an external EVF like Leica makes for its M9, M10 and M11 (Visorflex) A Leica Visorflex-compatible accessory shoe would have been brutally awesome. (2) The screen is left swingout only, it should have been made double hinged like the GH7's or S1H screens.

Don't shake the camera too much. There's no stabilization lock on the Zf model so parts can fall off inside, unlike the other mirrorless models

9:23 Here you demonstrate perfectly how to hold a camera + lens properly: left hand under the lens, and the right hand is just to balance and press the shutter. This was the proper formula for long decades when cameras were made without "battery grips" Even today Leica is making its M series cameras without grips. This is a major reason I loved the S9: no grip whatsoever. I am considering a Panasonic S PRO 50mm f1.4 for the S9 as a specialty lens next to my everyday Sigma 45 mm, and no way I'd buy a grip extender. 😉 Your video was fantastic, a joy to watch.

6:10 I was shocked how brilliant this MP4Lite (HEVC) format is, this is what I've been waiting for 10 years. To me this was absolutely a major surprise feature. I didn't take this feature even into consideration before picking the S9 vs Fujis and Zf.

1:38 I am absolutely brand agnostic, and it was a coincidence that Panasonic and Fuji announced at the same time cameras that grabbed my "10-year-Sony-fan" attention: S9 vs X-T100VI vs X-T50 with the brand new 16-50 internal focusing super lens. I spent several days in the store to experiment with these cameras plus the Nikon Zf, and the S9 was the winner to my preferences that were a balance between aesthetics and features. Since I have the S9, I cannot stop using it.

I held it in my hands yesterday. Two Z6III's one setup up for video and the other Photo. Performed great. Love the EVF and with 1/16000th shutter speed should have no worries about bad lighting. Stabilization was great and can upload Creative Looks. I agree with your views on the price and only one overheating incedent from a guy named Gerald Undone doing 4k 120 for a half an hour. Hate to see the file size on that. Cheers!
@Gadgetsjon2 ай бұрын
It's a great camera ergonomically right? The EVF is the star of the show for me. Who on earth would shoot 4K/120p for half an hour!?! looool Bizarre guy.
@danaswan8432 ай бұрын
It does NOT have the same auto focus as the Z8. I’m tired of hearing this lame unfounded bs. The Z8 is stacked. The sensor in the Z6iii is not. The Z8 will ALWAYS focus faster. ALWAYS. So admit it. And the Z8 has dedicated bird detect which the Z6iii does not. So the Z6iii does NOT have the same autofocus as the Z8. And NEVER will. Just admit it.
@Commonyou71492 ай бұрын
Z8 is old but this is new sensor, hence technology may be advanced. Also bird detection can be enabled through firmware. But unfortunately, it is only 24MP compared to z8, but fortunately it can do a lot of z8 things with that file size. 😊
@Gadgetsjon2 ай бұрын
Nikon told me it's the same AF system. I haven't had the chance to take it apart to check, so until I can or someone else does and proves that it's different, I'm taking their word for it. Using the two side by side, I can't see a difference in performance.

The catch is that is costs $2500 USD but in Canada with x1.35 percent exchange rate on dollar it costs $3399. CDN for body in Canada. This thing is a beast for video, and high speed action photography and nice specs for Nikon. I may buy a used one, once price goes down in a year.
@Gadgetsjon2 ай бұрын
The catch sounds like living in Canada from that description. What a wild penalty you guys have to pay for being there. The price will definitely fall and I agree, a used one in a year will probably be a very smart pickup!

They’ve done a very good job, but I can get a brand new Z8 for £2,800, or a Zf for £1,600, both from a UK shop. It will be interesting to see when they reduce the price, as they will do eventually.
@Gadgetsjon2 ай бұрын
Very good points, but Z8 is a beast of a camera to carry around all day, I've done it. Also, I wouldn't put the Zf in this ball park unless you're more interested in Photography, then that's clearly the better choice.
@randallbrander81572 ай бұрын
It seems to me that every year the sales are for Mother’s and Father’s Day plus maybe some Black Friday deals that are earlier each year. I am interested in the Z6III but will probably be waiting for a while because everyone one is stating Sold Out. It doesn’t bother me I Wii eventually get one. I am now seeing Z6 & Z7 with a grip for $800 and $1200. Other deals too on the used market.
@Gadgetsjon2 ай бұрын
@@randallbrander8157 The price of the Z6III will settle to a more attractive number within a year, so you're right to wait a while. Unless your camera is in immediate need of an upgrade, I never understand the rush for people to have the latest new thing. I love buying my camera gear used.
@randallbrander81572 ай бұрын
@@Gadgetsjon I agree totally. When viewing on EBAY or getting items from Amazon you do have a return policy if the product is damaged or you change your mind. I go to my local camera store and handle the equipment before buying or renting. Z9, R5C were $1000 MSRP and were in Excellent condition. I am also hold back and wait after the KZbinrs excitement wades to see how it performs 6 months or persons view after a year review. So what makes this camera so special to me to buy it or preorder in this case. Buffer was fantastic, Autofocusing much better than older Expeed 6 and lower cameras sensors. Overheating is my main concern and no video record limits in time. Price and since I am invested in Nikon ecosystem heavily wondering do I need Sony, Canon or Panasonic/Leica devices. I have bought adapters to interchange lenses between the camera systems to save some cost but I eventually get the glass that goes with the camera for the better performance. Unfortunately for me I am starting to run out of space and trying to decide what to let go and what to keep. That is the hardest decision for me is that if I am interested in something and I buy it I use it all of the time. Decisions, Decisions, but it is a great time to be alive and have the ability to capture the moment. Cheers!

Its a pity you can't shoot the open gate in any of the slow motion file formats. I shoot most of my video in vertical and it often gets slowed down. Even 1080 50 or 100 would have been useful. Plus the small rig handle only has a swiss arca on the bottom - so you cant fix it vertical to a tripod. Do you know what the electronic zoom was doing from the sensor, I heard it does lose resolution up to a certain point
@Gadgetsjon2 ай бұрын
yeah, I also wish MP4 Lite had a 50/60p option, that would have been ideal. Regarding hybrid zoom, it crops into the sensor to give you more reach. It's the same as shooting 6K or 4K for a Full HD delivery and rescaling your frame.
