Yeah anyone who played MG2:Solid Snake before MGS1 would've figured it out right away, also I wonder if anyone initially thought the "Ninja" was Kyle Scheneider, the Black Ninja from MG2, though I guess it would've only been someone from Japan since before MGS3:Subsistence's "Disc2 Persistence " MG2:Solid Snake had never been released in the US

This is a really old game so forgive it for not being cinematic but what happened was fox and snake were fighting hand to hand on a fucking minefield. Snake knocked his ass down and his stomach landed on a mine. Fox didn't die immediately so he's pretty much talking to snake with his guts everywhere. So now you know why solid snake has so much trauma

Venom snake was the big boss seen in the original metal gear game, here it’s the real big boss

His body was revived with nanomachines and parts of Liquid's and Solidus' bodies were given to Big Boss. When Snake destroyed GW in MGS4, Big Boss was finally set free.

To be fair, Big Boss was like 78 when this fight takes place. You can't really blame Big Boss for being a weak old man...

@@SchmittPlaythroughFR Ocelot was almost 75 in mgs 4 and yet he looked stronger than mgs3 ocelot. And I'm not sure but I think it was stated in the data book that big boss became stronger as he aged (like ocelot). And even if that's true big boss was still armed whil SS had nothing on him.

It’s sort of ironic. Technically Liquid never really met Big Boss after all despite fully believing he hated him from the very beginning and devoting his life to surpassing him.

And I like how Liquid Snake tells Solid Snake the same thing during the jeep chase at the end of MGS1 "Not yet Snake, it's not over yet!" almost as though Solid is being haunted by the specter of Big Boss through Liquid

All of those are retcons yeah. Kojima pretty much never had a real long-term plan for the series. It was a bit acceptable before MGS4 since there was still enough of a solid foundation.

I think it was implied in Metal Gear 1 when you beat big boss, boss says a remark before being cut off. Though that was retconned as being a body double of Big Boss.

Salb814 the storyline is a mess now, but as far as I can follow this was the real one. The first Metal Gear had the double/phantom or whatever.

@Salb814 Yes. After getting cooked here, the Patriots recover Big Boss's body, restore enough to not die, and keep him in a nanomachine-induced coma. He stays that way until EVA manages to steal his body and restore it with skin grafts from Liquid and Solidus's corpses. Once Solid Snake defeats the Patriot AIs, the coma spell is lifted and Big Boss awakens. He was already an old man before the coma though and he actually dies from the Foxdie virus Snake is infected with.

It's kinda of tragic if you think about it, in order for Jack/Naked Snake to earn the title of "Big Boss " He had to kill His mentor The Boss, and in order for Solid Snake to become "The Legendary Mercenary " He had to "kill" His Father Big Boss, though in MGS4 we find out that Big Boss survived this encounter but was 99.9999999% dead when He was recovered by The Patriots

In SSBU, Palutena is aware of Snake's reputation as the legendary mercenary.

This isn't Venom Snake. This is the real Big Boss. Venom got killed in the first Metal Gear.

@MegadonG Big Boss didn't particularly like any of his clone sons and what their existence represented. If he wanted a son, he'd call Venom his son, not the test tube babies made from his stolen DNA. He trained Solid a little bit, but he intended for Solid Snake to die back when he infiltrated Outer Heaven. Instead, Solid Snake survived, disobeyed orders, destroyed Metal Gear, Venom Snake, AND the entire Outer Heaven facility. And now here is Solid Snake again, fresh from destroying Boss's latest Metal Gear and his trusted lieutenant Grey Fox. He respected Solid Snake's ability as a soldier, but he's still a thorn in BB's side by thwarting his plans again.

Then you get to hear how cold and methodical Big Boss is, how well he understands the cycle of war. Every complains about how Big Boss came to be, but in my eyes, it all makes sense and he knows how to keep the war without end going.

@@nile2128 hes not wrong, I beat metal gear 2 and while the story was good the combat just looked and felt like playing with lego minifigures. The combat hasn't aged well.

Only mg1 and mg2. Mgs1 and onwards are good as they are. Graphics aren't everything and we need the story to come full circle first.

the first game could use a remake, but i think this one holds up pretty well.
