When this song got popular again several years ago, I cant tell you just how many of these I watched simply out of curiosity. I found it both incredibly interesting and disappointing that there were so many bassists out there that could play the song TECHNICALLY correct but, without "feeling". You, sir, have done both. First one I've seen to do so. Congratulations, and keep it up!

In a 2000 online chat with the BBC, Becker revealed that the lyrics here were were based on Owsley Stanley, their engineer. Kid Charlemagne” tells the story of the rise and fall of a San Francisco drug manufacturer. About Owsley Stanley, a clandestine LSD chemist of the 1960s known professionally as Bear, Becker explained “I would say it was very loosely inspired by Owsley”. “He was a well-known psychedelic chef of the day.”

Good work. Good song and band. I didn't appreciate the base line until I saw this video but I'll listen for it on my drive to work in the morning.
