This looks awesome! My son just bought a retro track from a thrift store but we don't have any cars yet. Where do most people buy their first ones from? And any other tips for first time racers?

I use a wide stubby flat head screwdriver. Don't try to pull the top off in 1 yank. Just pull up a tiny bit, go to another part, tiny bit, go to another part, tiny bit.. Works wonderful. I've seen a guy on youtube, he HATES the tins, because he destroys the lids.. but I am semi convinced he is doing it on purpose, because there is no way is damaging the lids without going out of your way to do it..

I know you spent a lot of time and effort to make this video, and I want you to know how much I appreciate it. Glues can be very confusing as to what types are needed for various situations. And there are "arm-chair experts" who unintentionally promulgate erroneous information. This is the most helpful video I have ever seen regarding what glues to use for different projects. Thank you for going to the trouble to make this video.

Great explanation. I'd love to see a session the last comment that you made about hooking up multiple accessories to an accessory transformer. I bring out my fast track at holidays for my grand kids (combo with new and post war accessories). It takes on a new shape and layout each year. And has gotten rather sprawling over the years - taking up the entire living room by the end of the holidays. The grandkids are ready for accessories but I'm at a loss for efficiently powering them. Thanks again for the most helpful video I've seen on this subject.

Great video! Thank you! We bought the insulated track you suggested. The light in the house goes on when the train passes but the gateman does not come out. Is there something wrong with the product or am I doing something wrong? Thank you!

Check to see if the gateman needs to be adjusted. Sometimes they are pressed on too tightly.

I am trying to connect a gateman with 3 posts on the roof to a Lionel Accessory Activation Pack track. Can you provide a diagram of how wires are connected between the 3 posts on the roof and the isolated track section (ground wire) and an accessory power pack. Ideally I would like the light to come on when the train passes and the trainman comes out and not have the light on all the time. Thanks!

Thanks for your excellent presentation. The sound near the end is low and you spoke rapidly, so did not get the model number for the older 2-wire FastTrack for a moving gate-arm at crossing. What is the model number, and do you have a link where I can buy it?

i was a bit disappointed because being a Bomcat it has no bombs at all, and also the missiles are in too many parts, would prefer the ones li ke they did on the Su-35S, single moulded. Also miss the Vulcan cannon.
