Thank you for sharing your sojourn. My daffodils still are buried under about 3 feet of snow. The first bloomers will be the forsythia bushes, nearby but I don’t have any in the yard... yet. What makes me most eager are the lilacs, but they, too, are a few months away. In quiet desperation, I ordered and received yarn from a lady dyer in Woodside this week-the colorway is called California Poppy. I’ve chosen a shawl pattern called Hundred Acre Wood. Thus, if you listen closely, you will hear the sound of knitting needles over the logs crackling in my wood stove and Lightening Creek running behind the house. 🧶

Great sound quality, all things considered. Original diamond needle? I may be mistaken, but I think I recall my old stereo auto-retracted back to its “stable” position when it reached the end of the recording. Your’s is manual, so you predate my experience! Bet you have a lineup of old albums... climate controlled, dust-free room, right?! Great trip down memory lane this evening. Thanks, T.

Lovely! Perfect music. Did I mention this before? I had the good fortune to hear Yo-Yo Ma in a quartet with Isaac Perlman at the Suntory Concert Hall in Tokyo, years ago. The chandeliers are shaped like beer bubbles (Suntory is well known for its beer), and the shape lent itself extremely well to the acoustics. Thought you would get a smile out of that gem of information! By the way, the knotted tree looked just like I imagine the muscles in my back after the last 2 weeks of work. 👩‍💻 Good to see California at its golden best and not photos of wildfire. Your cape is gorgeous. Woven locally? Are you the artist? Would love to see those notebooks!

Beth Duffey, the alpaca hooded poncho is from Peru, via a business called Gamboa - a gift to myself for the upcoming winter. Hearing Yo-Yo Ma and Isaac Perlman together must have been an experience I cannot imagine! It’s fun to learn that beer bottles help with acoustics. The video was an experiment with the iPad. I’d taken no camera along on our two night resort outing in an effort to get myself back to playing with watercolors, but I couldn’t resist making some sort of video of those flying and quaking leaves!

Tony Mindling not the beer bottles, but the suds! The chandeliers were made up of beer bubble shapes. I checked out that resort online. Looks like a fabulous place. Would sure enjoy attending several of their events. Lucky you to be so close to Hope Valley.

They share the same hull and rigging. The Vagabond has the extended cabin, the Holder 17 a very commodious cockpit. Both designed by a guy named Holder who sold the design to Hobie who manufactured them in the late 1980's.

Beth Duffey - Blue sky indeed - a lovely spot and just an hour’s drive. I re-made this video from earlier sail this month to plug in a couple of clips of other sailboats toward the end. I launched there again this past Saturday to meet for the first time a sailing group I recently joined called the Potter Yachters (the Westwight Potter is a popular class of small “trailer sailers”).

Tony Mindling Trailer sailers? Meaning, enough room in the bow to spend the night? I’ve heard of Tiny Houses, so does this fit the category of Tiny Boats? 😄

Thanks for posting this! The computer, laptop texting scene has been such a dumbing-down for writers. The classic typewriter is a more sensural experience(touch, sight and sound). I dearly miss my old trusty IMB Selectric II and my much older Royal manual typewriter... it's even older than Herb Caen's(r.i.p.)
