What is the name and artist of your "theme song"? It's very pretty.

Sorry its not a real song. Just me doing an improv.

5 mins ago: wrong wrong wrong. Now: correct correct correct. What did I do? I associated every interval with a song. Perfect 4th is simpsons theme. Perfect 5th is Star Wars theme. It is a lot easier to identify when you have examples in your head that you can compare to.

Thanks great practice. No major 6th or 7th intervals? Why?

This is good but what would be amazing is if you had a voice read out the interval after it was played, then we could learn and practice by listening

Why are there so few examples above a perfect 5th in the practice?

That feeling when you know how a minor 6th sounds like but you can't recognize a perfect 5th
@p4t091 Жыл бұрын
I like to think "how close to home" a note is. In this video the fifth is as far form home you can get and the octave is like the note is at rest after a long journey.

Neon Dazzle -- thank you. You have put together a musical and logical series to develop one's ear. I have a pretty good ear and just began on my own, about a week ago, to refine my ear and my understanding. Once I felt I understood what I needed, I began to work on my own, but also looked online to see what was being offered. I have felt that most of what is offered is too random and is likely to cause frustration -- at least that was true for me. Truly, thank you.

It makes transcribing a smoother process. To hear a chord and identify its pitches and from there naming it all speed up the process tremendously. Transcribing then goes on to be very useful in learning to compose, which is my end goal.

This is super helpful. Here's how this works best for me - I let it run in the background and then glance over at it while I do light stuff like surfing the web. Many other sites offer ear training that requires you to interact and scores you but sometimes you just want those intervals to just sort of absorb, and for me at least, I have to keep chipping away at it a bit at a time each day. Thanks!

I got 86%. Might not sound that great (I want to get at least 90.1% before I move up), but just a month or two ago I was worse than that on level 1! The practice is definitely working. I get better every week, and often I can feel improvement from day to day. I can't wait until I get to full chords. :-)

If u dont mind, can u tell me how long have u been playing an instrument, or i how long had you been playing an instrument at the time you post that commentary? Personally i have been playing the electric guitar nearly for ten months, and a few days ago, i decided that i wanted to improve my ears skills, so i have been doing this exercices, and i catch them correctly really fast, does that mean that i have good ear? or it can be more like the time i have been playing? I am asking cause actually i have never been focussed on my auditive skills so its weird to me

Btw i dont speak english, actually im learning, but idk if i made a mistake, if i did it, sorry for that.

@@luisfernandogonzalez4132 I think maybe one year for me at that time. Maybe you just have better ears naturally. I don't know!
