A church I went to when I lived in Alabama used Damprid for a while. We got a new pastor who was a retiring security specialist for the military. He took all of them out and brought in a variety of specific use products he used in his former work. The musty smell in the church basement went away quickly after he did that, FYI, he was a vibrant Bible based teacher as well.
@woodystube10004 ай бұрын
I’m not following. How does “retiring security specialist in the military” make you an expert at getting rid of the musty smell in the basement? What were the “special use products?”

@@woodystube1000 The musty smell was mold in the walls and across the floor in some of the unused rooms. He worked with the people who were willing to take it on. when he was done, the basement smelled clean, and we started to use it more.

Bad advice with little to no details as to why. If you maintain your safe, there is no reason you can’t use baking soda and also desiccant beads. They are the top level of dryness/ odorless storage. If you have a plug in, that’s awesome, BUT you can absolutely use these products, damp dry, baking soda, desiccant beads. You just have to know what they can and can’t do and how to maintain them. FFS this is a bad video with little to no helpful information other than a sale for the stuff in his store.
@Nashvillesafehouse5 ай бұрын
Timothy, My thousands of customers that use the Eva Dry product disagree with you. Did you even watch the video? I indicated that a desiccant bead product like an Eva Dry is better than using a product like Damp Rid.

I use Damp rid in my closets. It works well in that way. When I went to replace used up bags, I found one that had leaked. The liquid spilled onto several items on the floor. It was not easy cleaning the mess. That water is nasty.
@Nonyabusiness9116 ай бұрын
Been in the carpet cleaning industry 32 years. It works best if a pro flushes it with plenty of water. It takes way more than you would think. You can tell if it’s gone by running your hand across the carpets, if still there it leaves a shiner film on your hand.

Thanks to you, I may wind up using these to not accidentally destroy irreplaceable heirlooms. I really like how they plug into the wall to burn off the collected moisture

I have the Evas or a brand like it. The only problem is the manual intervention of taking it out to re-charge? What do you recommend that plugs in and is zero maintenance? Thanks. Just realizing many of the nicer gun safes have a power strip inside so one could easily be plugged in.
@Nashvillesafehouse6 ай бұрын
A "no maintenance" option would be a Goldenrod. The only issue is it just heats up the air in your safe and doesn't "remove" the moisture. Where as the eva dry absorbs the moisture and it is removed and dried out when you plug it in every few months. We've sold 1000's of eva drys and never had an issue.

Even my crappy stack on that I bought 5 years ago is up to $250+ now, and you have to assemble that. And it can be pried apart with a big enough flat head screwdriver. I've seen these in person and they were very impressive for a cabinet. Twice as heavy for exactly the same footprint (almost, it's 3 inches deeper then my stack on), fully welded box, no assembly, and an extremely sturdy door that's way harder to pry with an electronic lock. Also it's carpeted and has actual racks compared to my Stack On, which came with foam and two sided tape. I'm definitely upgrading.
