Unrealistc expectations of supervisors. 1) Being pressured into getting numbers and billable units of service with no regard to quaility of care 2) Guilting workers for taking earned sick and personal days off because they have a "duty". The whole speech about how the company depends on a worker, but the minute one has a valid opinion, the next message sent is that "you are in fact, replaceable." 3) Trying to help people who don't want to be helped. (I work with plenty of legally mandated patients). 4)Probably the biggest one to me is working with colleagues who are on the field and have not worked on self care, and have unresolved issues that need to be addressed. So it comes out in ways not conducive for a therapeutic environment such as boredorline narcissism, violations of boundaries with staff and patients. I have seen it lead to unaddressed countertransference, emtoional abuse of patients, and staff. It is a lot to handle and not become bitter and desensitized like them while trying to earn a decent living helping people in need. The possible solutions are: There is a sanctuary model being implemented that is to offer a safe haven for staff, and patients. I am intersted in finding out more what that is about. 2) Raises to make it worth the emorional tax. 3) synnergy creating events and oxcurences that boostmoral and comradery. 4) Empathy building execises. 5) More perks and activities. If i am going to sp nd moat of my time away from my biological family to be with my work family, at let it feel like it's worthwhile. 6) Adequate staffing. 7) While understanding that electricity needs to be paid, not to pressure for billable notes and understand that corporate america and himan services do not mix well.
