I love how you managed to straighten the bent stem, this is genius! Can I ask what climate or country you're in? They had first roots after 2 weeks, which is amazing!

Just found your channel by suggestions. My plant had two branches and they both broke off. Can I still save the trunk? It is fairly thick, and I have had no growth as of two weeks. New subscriber here.👍

I think it takes a lot longer than that. Especially during the winter, when the temps are cool. I wouldn't worry about it until a couple months have passed. Put rooting hormone powder on the end.

Got two cuttings in august, put them in water for couple of weeks but I didn't see a single root spout, not even a tiny one. However, the top sections started collecting mold, so I had to cut the portions away. Stuck them in soil with some rooting powder and couple of weeks later, they started pushing new stems from the original stem. 1,5 months later, I can see 3 new branch sprouts on one of the propagations and a single sprout on the other, with the oldest being 2cm long. So, if anyone is having trouble getting cuttings started, rooting hormone can fix it. Edit: 3 months later, the new branches are 15-18cm long. One of the cuttings has 2 other node points with leaves poking out, but they haven't been doing anything since the biggest branch started growing.

Any advice for me, just got one of these and it has three leaves. One is large and damaged cut in middle the second is normal size and the third is cut in half… the stem seems solid and bottom has nice roots going . Currently in water any advice? Should I just let the leaves be Ans eventually taller ones will grow or ?

You can actually just cut the stems & put into soil. No need to put on water & wait.

It is better to transplant them into soil after they have taken root in water.

Do you have to put it in a glas of water? Can you not just stick it in the ground? What's the difference???
@HouseplantsLife4 ай бұрын
If you just plant it in the ground, it can easily die if the humidity is not controlled. The success rate is higher if you safely root it in water.

I did this to some soft stem growth on my hydrangea and stuck them straight into soil and watered with fertilizer water. Should i take them out and put in smaller soil pots? Or will the 6” pot with 4-5 stems in it be fine?
@HouseplantsLife4 ай бұрын
It is better to plant it in a small pot at first and then transplant it to a larger pot once the roots have grown.
@mfredcourtney58769 ай бұрын
So why did they die? Too much water?
@Isinita8 ай бұрын
The text at 5:09 says that they died because they weren't watered for over a week. Weak new roots in tiny pots without water and it would've been a miracle if they survived.
@darkcybernaut9 ай бұрын
I don't understand how this work, but then if you do overwatering when the plant is in soil, it will suffer damage and go yellow/brown. How is it that a glass full of water won't cause overwatering, but bad drainage in soil will?

The soil basically drowns the plant if it’s too much water.
@bsnufkin9299 күн бұрын
When a plant in a pot has soggy soil for a long time it's perfect conditions for fungi and bacteria to grow and multiply. They kill the plant, causing the roots to rot and stops them from using soil nutrients. The same is likely to happen if you don't change water in a glass with cuttings. The water will turn murky and then start to bubble because of bacteria. The cuttings may then rot.
