Hello Justin thank for your great video. May I ask you about the v mount clamp to attach this light to a light stand? I have been searching it a lot but I cannot find anything. Could you please suggest one to me? Thank you very much

Thank you for this honest video. I'm a stills shooter who does the occasional video - but I own the beloved Sigma 35mm f1.4 and similarly I LOVE this lens. I typically shoot on my 24-70 f2.8, but as you mention balancing the R6 + EF adapter + 24-70 f2.8 is a challenge. Easily done but it's right on the edge of the DJI RS3 capability (not the pro version). I'll be testing today, but in your honest, video shooting opinion - is 35mm an easier focal length to work with? Also note ... I probably won't have all of the controls plugged on the gimbal, pretty much just using it balanced and aiming straight for stock video assets of food/produce and people mingling.

I'm also playing around with HLG on my Lumix S5iiX and I like what I see so far. Just gotta tone down the vibrance a bit. Or create a V709 profile that matches what I want and then use the Real time lut feature to bake it over the HLG.

I just got this lens! Would this lens still be the way to go in 2024? Some say I should have went with the Tamron 35 1.4. I’m going to use it with the C400 and a EF to RF adapter.

Has anyone noticed that (all) commercials now are 95% black guys… oh and ofcourse! It’s gotta be your sister in-laws boyfriend hahaha ofcourse…. all I’m saying is that over-praising ANY one race is not cool. At least aim for equality, but 95% is not equality sorry.

I don't get it. If you are shooting it in the party you will use at least f4 to cover group shots (to be safe). Of course you will use a flash for light. So being a con for lowlight is subjective.

Very cool, how do you find the bluetooth connection on the light? Would you say it's reliable or does it lose connection often?

Seems like the a7sii is the winner. The a7ii was consistenly 2-3 clicks darker in every shot, which means you would have to drop iso, just to match brightness, which means you would then be shooting worse iq.

Did you film this coffee video in log format? and then painted it?
@jn-xw3cq6 ай бұрын
That's pretty good. Pretty close. Loved seeing that you actually built the background. I think you could painted very thin brown lines on the white 2x4s to add more texture to the "door window" frame. Your's just looks white and flat compared to the actual frame. And for more specific lighting tweaks you could have made. You should have used neg. fill closer to your body. A floppy or a few flags to shape the shadows on the face, chest and arms. Also, you probably should've had a second smaller source on the other shoulder side to get the rim lighting inside of using the power window to illuminate the right shoulder. Just brightening with a power window doesn't match the actual frame's lighting for the right shoulder due to the specular highlights on the rim of his skin. Also by illuminating that spot, the black square behind you to the right felt more fake because now it was more of a gray gradient instead of just black for that one square in the window. But those are nit-picky. With what you had and made due to with, it turned out great!

Actually I realized. You should've pushed your light tube and stand like a third of a foot. That would created deeper shadows on the face, shirt, and arms as well as illuminated both shoulders better as rim lighting. However, the background would have been more illuminated and you would have to use more gaff tape to skirt the tube from lighting the wall. Also, I think the actually shot was graded with a little more blue in the green lighting. You got really, really close though. Just very small tweaks and I think you could have nailed it even closer.

*third of a foot behind you.
@jn-xw3cq6 ай бұрын
Well, it's recreating a shot from scene not the whole scene. However, still pretty solid stuff. You toned the lighting quite closely to the actual shot Daniel Craig. Only difference I would have made with your set-up would have been to bring the neg. fill on the right side of your face a hair bit closer. I think someone else mentioned that the K:F ratio was ever so slightly off. Other than that, great stuff. To really push your lighting, you should try some shots that light the whole scene, not just one single of one of the subjects. I know you might not have enough people to stand in for however many actors are in the scene, but learning how to light the entire space and then tweak the lighting for closer shots goes miles for you.

I've had my Sony A7iii since they first came out. It's been a good camera for photographing weddings, events, etc. I had to replace the motor once at a tune of $750. I sent my camera back with auto focus issues. The problems have snowballed from there on. I went to shoot an event at the beach yesterday and God and behold I got the dreaded message “Error. Turn power off and then on". I tried turning off and on my camera, I changed lenses, removed the battery to no avail. I am glad I had my Sony A6000 with me as it saved the day. I need to replace my camera and I am not sure if I want another Sony or move on to a Nikon. I was a Canon girl for years and decided on a lighter gear is why I changed to Sony. Unfortunately, I have a wedding next Saturday (today is Sunday) and I am a crossroads as to what to do. I also have several paid events in May . Any ideas as to what to do? I've never photographed with a Nikon and don't know the learning curve on them. Thanx for reading my plea for help!

Thanks for this, was having a hard time figuring out how to custom set the kelvin, under custom settings i couldn't seem to do anything but move the colors, not the kelvin. Many other videos fixate on the setting a custom white balance by using the auto detect but i just wanted the simple feature to manually dial it and surely a camera would have that lo. anyways feel dumb for overlooking the setting but happy to know it now
