Malls always fascinated me because they not only had major department stores in them, but also quaint little boutiques that were fun to shop in. Little businesses that had a spirit to them, atmospheres that were interesting. Much of the merchandise was overpriced, but hey, one expected that in malls. And in the 70s and 80s, one could find really special and unique items in mall stores, even the bigger ones. Food courts, jewelry stores, clothing stores, toy stores, music stores, pet stores -- something for everyone. It's just too sad that so many malls have fallen by the wayside. I blame customer disloyalty in part for it. Businesses can't survive if people won't buy from them. I also blame the internet. And bad management who cared more about pleasing shareholders than pleasing customers. Maybe if our American economy perks up and becomes profitable again, some of these businesses might return or new ones might open. If that happens, I hope they have a wide selection of merchandise and GOOD customer service. One thing I would recommend above all else: That stores allow their paying customers to use their restrooms if needed, and not give people who are shopping a bad time about it. And large department stores, PLEASE, have your restrooms located close to your entrance so customers don't have to walk a mile to access them. That's one reason I don't like to shop at Walmart or some of these other big box stores -- they have their restrooms clear in the back of these HUGE stores and I have to walk my legs off just to use them. Not fair to customers who have trouble walking or get tired easily. Any business that values customer service will have these facilities located in a convenient spot that isn't ridiculously far away. I look forward to the return of malls. I would prefer to shop at a physical mall any day than shop online. In fact, I never shop online.

That's quite an extensive mall. You were taking some dangerous chances wandering into those dark areas. Perfect places for criminals to hide and attack. I'm also surprised there aren't any homeless camps set up in there. It looks like the vandalism was and is extensive, as well. Sad to see all the abandoned businesses that once had probably thrived in that mall, at least for awhile. I thought I saw what was once a food court, and that jewelry store still has its front sign. The rest is just an eerie mess. At the same time, going through there provides fascinating fodder for one's imagination.

It is dangerous for sure, I didn’t want to venture too deep into those dark areas. I do carry protection on me, but I never have nor want to use it. We were surprised to only run into 2 other people, but after we passed them they started smashing some of the glass storefronts. It’s disappointing that so many of these places get trashed very quickly, and I also agree.

@@drowninthe2000s What possible purpose could there have been in smashing glass windows of the abandoned stores? I never could understand vandalism for the sheer sake of being destructive. Those folks do it just because they can, making messes just to be making them. I don't get it...

Interesting video, thanks! One of the malls in my city was torn down for much-needed redevelopment but I regret not going inside for one final look.

There were a few other stores open, mainly the JCPenney, American Eagle, and a few smaller shops. Besides that, it was very empty!

That’s interesting! I feel like it’s a multitude of circumstances over here like big anchor stores going out of business, people preferring to shop online, and companies who purchase declining malls but don’t execute a good plan to help bring people back.
