so i have no codes...........car just stalls after awhile........its driving me nuts i cant figure this thing out 2013. fuel pump replaced maf sensor air temp sensors all kinds of crap. thing just randomly dies in drive. but starts up again no problem..........im thinking its in the computer.

That is amazing that you found that but I have read on google threads these cars intake mani bolts do come lose on there own for some reason ! I have this 171 code pop up for the first time end of last month and I cleared it and it stayed off Untill April 19th so almost 3 weeks and it’s back on again . I’ll be checking my bolts tomorrow and going from there ! Awesome work man !

there is a tsb on the intake bolts coming loose. they want you to remove one bolt at a time in the torque sequence and apply threadlock on the bolts and tighten to 110 in pounds

My 14 Malibu also had loose plenum bolts. That code had me tripped of for months. I just don't understand how did that car idle with a leak that bad?

Pro tip : when u have a vacuum leak ur fuel trims will be lean at idle and if u give it gas fuel trims will look normal then lean again at idle. I use a smoke machine to find leaks but when u have intake gaskets leaking many times it will only leak when engine is cold. The reason why the other shop didn’t figure it out is because they don’t know how to diagnose.

What happens if I do a sweep test and the gauges don’t go all the way up? Or bounces up and comes back down?

Thanks for the help bro. Just was driving and heard a loud intake leak while driving. CEL and car died when my foot was off the gas. Went home and found all 5 bolts loose. Couldn't even engage the ratchet on 3 of them.

Thank you for this video! Lean code came up on my 2014. Now, my manifold didn't move nearly as much, but those bolts were definitely very loose. Tightened then up and the long term fuel trims are back down to 10 and under. Thank you again!

Thank you for posting this video. It was a pain getting to it to tighten the five bolts but probably saved me over $1,000 in diagnostic fees

Any suggestions if you go to tighten the bolts and one of them is stripped. I tried to tighten mine and the last one just spins freely but won't tighten or come lose.

I have a 2014 Chevy Malibu, eco-boost. I love the car but I hate the eco-boost. I’ve had more trouble with it. When I approach stop, the car idles Rough, and actually has died twice. I’m going to have my mechanic look into the air intake valves, to see if that’s what’s going wrong. I do not get a check engine light when this happens. Chevy couldn’t figure anything out, and told me they needed to replace my main computer. I’ve had sensors replaced. Very frustrated, wondering, do you think this is the problem? If you Google Chevy eco-boost, rough idle, stalling, you’ll see it listed on numerous forums.
