My ribbon cable, the left (wide) one connecting bottom to top part of the piano, seems to be broken. One of the (27 I think) pins has rubbed off after I tried cleaning it from some mysterious dirt. I think I can replace the cable but I have not found it online to buy, anyone got any tips?

Great Video! How would you fix a Yamaha P71 that volume knob doesn't work and volume goes down to mute? thank you

You did a great job. On my P-125 a white key is broken (?). It snaps out and extends toward the pianist. I can snap it back in but then when I play it, the key pops back out. Do I need to go to eBay and buy a new octave (are they all the same) or do you think it's something I can glue back with the epoxy? If you were in South Texas I might pay you to fix it. I can't find anybody down here except the store where I bought it and they are busy with school band work.

I still don’t fully understand the bottom number, but does it mean, for example, in the staff, there is 4/4? The top 4 is how many beats there are in a measure whole note = 4 beats; then the bottom number means how many quarter notes fit in a measure, for example, Whole note = 4 quarter notes = 4 beats. Did I get it right or? 😔

Instead of epoxy, I suggest Scotch double sided cellophane tape. It is very strong but not permanent. Anyway when I found out Yamaha employed flexi-hinges for the P-125, I eliminated it from my selection. I only look for those DP with proper pivot pins. From what I could feel at the showroom, I suspected the new P-225 was also hinged. The keys felt pre-loaded.

Had accidentally knocked over my P-71 and some keys were stuck. This video was crystal clear with all of the steps required to open the piano. I found that some of the metal rods had jumped out of their track causing the stuck keys. It was simple to push them back into place and that solved the problem. Absolute genius step to mark the screws with a Sharpie. Would have never thought to do that on my own. Thank you

If it's clunking or thumping probably the Felt strips need to be replaced. They get compressed and the key movement is no longer muffled.

Thanks for sharing your ideas, I have exactly the same brand, YAMAHA (Digital Piano P-45). I've been using it for almost 2 yrs now. And I have a problem, recently, I notice that when I play some of the chords, there is an off-tune sound, it happened to the last piano I had before I bought this one. Would you pls help me in with that? Thank you, Nette
@PianoAwesome8 ай бұрын
Thanks for sharing! Off tune, huh? Sorry... I'm not sure what could cause that. One way to find out if the issue with with the piano's software is to capture mini and add the piano voice through a DAW. If this fixes the issue then then problem is they way your piano generates the notes. If it doesn't solve the issue, the problem may be something else. I know this suggestion won't fully solve the issue... but, it may get you one step closer. Either way, good luck and happy piano playing.

For some time now, when I touch the body (except for the wooden part) or when I hit the keys a little hard, my piano makes a sound like a marble. This issue gets worse when I hold the pedal and play music.(I tried even when the piano is turned off and there is no electric current in it, it still makes this sound). What is the problem? My piano model is clp725

First... I don't know. However, opening it up and seeing if you notice anything visual out of place would be a good first-step.

This is incredibly helpful. At 4:42 I noticed the row of rubber membranes (I think?) that I assume are the velocity sensors. Is there a way to safely clean these? One of the white keys on my P45 has messed up velocity (not as responsive, sometimes is at full velocity even with the slightest touch). I also have a Yamaha Reface DX which has the same velocity issue on one of its keys. I'm wondering if it is a physical thing on both units or something that could be solved by correctly cleaning the velocity pads? Cheers
@PianoAwesome8 ай бұрын
I didn't know those were velocity sensors. I'm not sure what the best method is of cleaning those. Sorry. Good luck!

I'm sorry this doesn't really answer the question. The bottom number, if it's '4' is supposed to mean quarter note. But quarter of what? If the time signature is 7/4 how does it makes sense to have 7 quarter notes in a measure? Wouldn't that be 1 and 3/4 measures? The reality is, shockingly, that the bottom number CONVEYS ABSOLUTELY NO INFORMATION and is unnecessary. There is no difference between 7/4, 7/8, 7/16 or 7/29348928349839. It's 7 pulses (beats) per measure. Whether that is a "quarter note" or "eighth note" doesn't really mean anything since those measurements themselves only represent fractions of a measure which you are overriding with the number on top.
