The contractor had the jacks and panels in the bid…chose not to rent them, and pocketed the $$…you don’t wanna mouth it up with an OSHA inspector, it can end up costing you a lot of money

I love when the actual workers hate on OSHA… like, fools, they are there to protect you. You are arguing for owners to be able to risk your lives so they can make more money 🤦♂️

The people who support the white collars who want to stop all of the red tape need to stop and understand why it’s there. It’s for their own good and safety. My dad worked for the airlines. Everyone hated the Union. It was the union that supported him and you when the supervisor wanted an unsafe airplane in the air and my dad refused to sign off on the paperwork. Because he cared for you and your family. When the airline went out of business, my dad told me to never fly again because it would no longer be safe because airlines would be hiring uneducated and unlicensed mechanics. Think about this while traveling during the holidays. They don’t care about you, just the bottom line. If your boss is putting you into an unsafe situation, WALK! Find a better company to work for. If something goes wrong they’ll try to blame you.

The OSHA inspector saved his life as the contractor had no regard for their worker's safety. However, it is up to the worker to notice and REFUSE unsafe conditions. Sure, a crappy contractor might fire them. GOOD, they can go work for a reputable contractor while ALIVE.

I have had so many over-paid assholes risk my life for their wallet, all the while demonizing OSHA. I'm sure it contributed to my absolute hatred of wage work in general. Sure, it's fun to successfully dodge a collapsing wall of dirt; we all love a little adrenaline rush. What sucks is unsuccessfully dodging fate's vicissitudes. And your boss ain't giving you health insurance, you can bet your ass. You'll be lucky if you qualify for... no wait, you'll be lucky you ain't dead.

You know what, firemen are always the heroes rescuing people. But imagine if those people never needed rescuing, how redundant would firemen then be? Why do people hate the professionals trying to avoid the accidents and love the rescuers that get to keep their work because the professionals were bad at their jobs?

I wonder how many of these guys (whose lives are in danger in the vid, and who praise OSHA in the comments) voted for someone promising to gut regulations? OSHA had the fewest compliance officers in its history under the first trump administration, and the second time around won't be any better. But at least they won't have so many Mexicans to worry about, so it's worth it, right? Right? ... Right?
