Lovely and even though this is also just a tiny tiny example of what you can actually do on the mainland as the video maker is going very safe with Meteora and Athens which by now is as famous as the famous islands. But in fact mainland Greece has many many mountain regions like Pindus, Tymfi mountain (with Vikos gorge, Aoos gorge, dragon lake) or Epirus and Ioannina as the city to reside, or Tzoumerka mountains,, or Acheloos Valley + acheloos river + Kremasta lake, or Agrafa mountains and Evrytania and Karpenisi to Proussos area, or Mount Olympus, Halkidiki area, Lake Kerkini + Rhodope mountains area, Central Greece with mountains like Parnassus, Giona and Vardousia or the Pelion peninsula or Evia island which is connected to the mainland by bridge. And these are just simple examples out of countless more on the mainland. It's full with mountain. Greece is an unforgettable country with stupendously beautiful nature and scenery of so many kinds. The places in the video are ofcourse all top class. But if the video maker truly had knowledge about Greece in every way, he could make many many many more example videos of itineraries. But yes. The Itinerary in the video is great. Too short for 14 days. Crete deserves 2-3 weeks on it's own and then you just explored a certain region of that island. I have been 8 times to Crete and have done the island justice, and yet still there are areas I havent visited yet

Just got back from Italy. We stayed in Menaggio on Lake Como. Absolutely beautiful. We used the ferries to visit other areas. Unfortunately we had to cut our trip short as the roof in our Airbnb started to leak during a storm. We ended up spending an extra day in Milan. Milan is really nice and easy to get around.

Italy is one of my favorite places. My favorite place in Italy is Firenze (Florence). I think the architecture, the museums, the art both in & out of the museums, the Ponte Vecchio. I'm not sure that spending a year in Florence would be enough. If I could not see anything else in Italy I would choose Florence. You cannot really understand the Renaissance without spending time in Florence. The Vatican would not be the Vatican without all of the contributions, financial, architectural & artistic from Florence. Without Florence Italy's historical contributions to the world might have ended with the Roman Empire.

That is something you should research carefully. There are plenty of videos on KZbin that I advise you pay attention to. One of the things you should think about it is what are you going to do in a foreign country. One of the common things that I read on the Internet is it's wonderful to sit in a bar or a restaurant and nurse a drink like wine or coffee and watch the people go by I could do that for about a half an hour. Then I would go crazy. And remember you have to learn the language. You will see a lot of people say that it's possible to get by without learning the language just speaking English, but you really do not want to do that.

What’s in khao soi? The toppings look amazing. Do you have a ballpark for about how much I can expect to spend on a meal when I eat at restaurants? I’m trying to get an idea for budget.
@droptack
@droptack 11 ай бұрын
Hey Abby, Thailand is pretty cheap so you won't need to budget a lot for food. It depends on the destination and the quality of the meal, but you can expect to pay between 70 and 300 Baht per person, per meal (about $2 - $9 typically). You can obviously save by going to markets, cooking at your vacation rental, and choosing street food over nicer restaurants. Khao Soi is this perfect combination of the best aromatics in Thailand mashed into a curry paste, mixed with coconut milk, broth, meat, noodles, and condiments. There are a ton of different topping options, but typical options include limes, fried shallots, fried noodles, chili oil, fresh shallots, cilantro, pickled mustard greens, fish sauce, and more. I personally love going heavy on the fish sauce, chili flakes, and chili oil.

1:03 Rising sea levels? Do some research - that’s got nothing to do with it. Venice is sinking because of how Venice was built. Venice was built on tree trunk stilts. These are slowly sinking.

Thanks for sharing. We agree that research is wonderful. In this case, we did some, and it's a combination of both issues. There's a controversy over whether or not it's still sinking, but of course there's controversy over climate change as well. While we do try to research adequately we will inevitably make mistakes and we appreciate you helping us get to the truth.

Hey love your travel vlogs. Have been watching them to help plan my Italy trip. Wanted a suggestion. I am planning a 10 day Italy trip. As I am travelling to Venice for a day and amalfi coast for 3 nights. After Rome do you suggest I should do the Florence/ Tuscany region for 2-3 days or Milan / Como. Would appreciate your response. Thanks
@droptack
@droptack Жыл бұрын
Hi Yash, we’re glad you’re enjoying them. That’s a tough question… you really can’t go wrong with either choice. I prefer Florence to Milan, but Lake Como is an incredible place. Logistically, the train systems make it easy to access either of them so Milan is only about an hour further from Rome. If you enjoy lakes, mountains, or more modern cities go to Milan/Como. If you lean towards history, rolling hills, art, and architecture I’d recommend Florence/Tuscany. Sounds like a great trip! You’re going to see a lot.

@@droptack thanks for your reply. as I am visiting Venice and the amalfi coast, do you think lake como is similar or it’s different? What would a better overall choice be according to you ?
@droptack
@droptack Жыл бұрын
I think Lake Como is different enough that it would be worthwhile. The lake is situated in the mountains and has a different feel than the coasts and canals. It really depend on the type of traveler you are. Lake Como can feel a bit touristy, whereas Tuscany offers more insight into Italian culture. Personally, I would add Florence/Tuscany if it were my itinerary, but like I said, it differs for each traveler.

Love the drone footage. I will be spending 3 months in Italy later in year and owning a Mavic 3, and already my thinking is, will be difficult to fly with regulations, weight and noise. What drone did you use for the footage, if I may ask? 🙏
@droptack
@droptack Жыл бұрын
Hey Chris, I’m excited for you! We actually sourced the footage for this particular video from other artists so I can’t answer the specific drone question, though I’m partial to DJI. As far as I understand, Italy’s regulations are pretty standard and I don’t think they’re as strict as some other countries, though I would certainly read up on them if you haven’t already. The Mavic 3 is an A1 category so it should be easier to use as far as regulations are concerned. Where are you planning to go? Three months is a great amount of time in Italy.

7 am or earlier. . Walk there in a leisurely way on nearly empty streets admiring the architecture rather than dodging the shoppers later in the day. The council workers might still be cleaning the fountain catchment, there are probably 6 other tourists and the nearby cafe might be open for coffee and cornetto . The miracle is that it is silent !!! A short walk ( 5 min) takes you to the nearby Pantheon, which opens at 8:30 and is free. Wait till then sitting at a nearby cafe for an authentic Italian breakfast and uninterrupted view across the piazza. Or would you rather sleep in have breakfast at your hotel, catch a bus and arrive at midday when there are thousands of tourists shoulder to shoulder and the sound of their shouting can be heard streets away. Your choice 🤦🏻‍♂️
