Hey Travis….in your thumbnail shot for this vid you’ve got “Oklahoma” spelled two ways!

My main focus going into State is always staying loose and trying to have fun. That always leads to me playing my best pinball. Ultimately, I think the odds are extremely low I'd ever win a state tournament, but I love competing against the best in the state. Good luck everyone!

Great video Travis, thank you. I tend to do well until I get into the last round and then I get nervous and lose it.

I know that currently my chances of winning are mathematically insignificant, so I’m going in with the singular goal of doing better than I did last year. Of course, last year was getting swept in the first round, so it’s not exactly a high bar to clear, but for me, progress is progress, no matter how slight. Good luck to everyone competing in states this weekend!

In my last comment, I’d hoped this pin’d be in my pad by Xmas … I was off by one week! Lol. I have it on loan for a month and I’m flippin about 30 games a day on it, gettin really comfy with the shots. I can now say I FINALLY understand this strat, and as soon as I caffeinate my brain on the morn, I’m goin straight to the game room to put this to the test. I cannot give it back to my distro without at LEAST 1.5B on it. (Now, if I could only understand JAWS! 😂🥴)

Thanks Travis! Even as a beginner I can really agree with everything you talked about. Even though I'm not competing at a State level, hopefully I can learn from these tips and perform better at my monthly locals :D

Thanks man, great video, I needed that because for the last 7 years I completely choke at state. I walk up and basically so nervous that I can't play at all and I always fall in the first round. 1 year i was the 1 seed and fell to the 16. Hopefully, I can break that habit, and I will just be happy if I can get past the first round this year.

Pinball is about managing chaos. Who would have thought this game could teach us some valuable life lessons?
@FlipsyFiona8 күн бұрын
This such a great skill to develop. Right up there with dead bouncing. I always attribute my pinball improvements to 3 specific periods of time when i got significantly better: 1st was when i started learning to cradle. 2nd was when i started learning how to nudge (which im still working on mastering. At first, i just used it to save balls from the outlanes.) 3rd was learning how to dead bounce and how to control my nudging. This particular set of skills has dramatically raised my ability to go from being an "on the fly" player 95% of the time to being more of a control player 25% of the time (still majority on the fly, obviously). This has helped my consistency go way up, especially in tournies.

I just bought my Godzilla Pro and trying to figure this game out. I'm practicing on your strategy. However when the ball comes back down from the right ramp, whenever I try to bump it back to the left flipper it doesn't reaches it and get a middle drain. So frustrating. When am I doing wrong? FYI: My playfield level is at +-7° with the air bubble in the middle of the upper stripe. Thx for your help 🙂

Pretty huge. I focused on getting to Blackened yesterday morning for the first time, so MB all day basically. Ended up over 1.1 bill. Definitely higher scores to be earned for the highly skilled player chasing EOTL, but for my skill level, MB all day seems to be the safest way to higher scores.

Indeed. I do have a few videos filmed that would show a billion point strategy using multiball as the central tactic. This works great in comp mode and is a lot of fun. Comp Install is a different animal though as the Coffin locks wouldn't get progression during the other multiballs to my knowledge.

@ThePinballCompany17 күн бұрын
I don't have my notes with me, but I want to say it's the gate right above the left flipper. There should be art on the playfield indicating "Cerebro Bonus Build."

Hi Travis, thank you very much for your fantastic videos. Ihave two questions to the tier 2 battle (flee or fight): first, how long do you have to play the mode to decide "fight or flee" (or can you decide from the first second of the battle?)? And second, HOW do you set the decision "fight or flee" - should mean, what do you have to do, to change between "fight" or "flee"? I´m from Germany and my English is limited. 🙂 So please easy words for me. Thank you.
@ThePinballCompany12 күн бұрын
Thanks for watching! As soon as the building insert is lit red, you can hit this shot to give the option to "fight or flee". This happens pretty much right after you hit enough spinner to light all the other shots around the playfield. When you are deciding to "flight or flee" use the flippers to toggle your choice, which you can see on the screen. Hit the action button to confirm your choice.

As always, great job Travis! Collecting coffin items is another great example of great code. It is the one item that you cannot stack up like the other ones, but can double up on in lanes. It is also the only multiple ball where you can stack another multiball, which is so fun! Of course you and many other players know this, but it just shows the great code and strategies. By the way, I played a Metallica remastered the other day that was not set up Ideally. Drop targets would not drop. Round the world orbit shots would come around and hit slings. The Scoop shot was much more difficult than usual. It made the game haphazard and brutal, which was very unfortunate. Sometime if you could show a video of how a new in box game may need hardware tweaking to deliver the intended experience.
@VarunKapoor198326 күн бұрын
I'm in the situation David described around the improperly set up hardware -- my drop targets rarely drop, and most importantly, whenever I launch from the shooter, there's a column at the top-back of the playfield that pops up, so I never get the ball to go the left half of the playfield from launch; it always hits that column and then goes down the right side, which is very frustrating and is making me dislike this game greatly (despite being a lifelong Metallica fan). I'm only 3 weeks into my pinball journey (as you can tell me from calling those things that pop up columns -- I think that's the round-the-world problem David's mentioning), so any help would be much appreciated!
@DavidVanderburgh24 күн бұрын
@@VarunKapoor1983 I tightened the springs on the drop targets (very easy- do not need to clip unless you don't like the look. For left orbit- adjust the metal left orbit side rail (has a couple of screws)- will have to remove a plastic or two... which reminds me I need to readjust mine again. Then the game will be a blast.

what is a ski jump ?
@ThePinballCompany17 күн бұрын
It's a flipper technique where you use a flipper and let the ball's momentum allow for the ball to fly off that flipper (ski jump) and land on the opposite flipper.
