This is called "emotional manipulation". I've know a dude like Steve most my life who did all this same kinda stuff to me for years. He knew damn well that I did not like him, yet he kept trying to get me to be intimate with him by giving me gifts and crap I did not want or even ask for. And because I didn't accept his tokens of "lust" (which he tried to disguise as "love and affection"), he started saying things like, "I wish you could see how many tears I cry alone for you." or similar crap to what Stevie told Laura about reaching a star.. 🙄 And before you even attempt to bring this up - no, I was not "leading him on", - Like I said, he knew I didn't like him , but yet he was still trying to get with me.. Na, bruh.. People who do this to you are just trying to get you to feel sorry for them, just to try to get what they want from you, or break you down so you feel guilty, and are seen as the bad one. This is not "sweet", it's just emotional manipulation, guys.. 🥱🥱🥱

Why did Steve Urkel hate himself so much? This is the true mystery of the TV show family matters. Was the verbal abuse he received from The neighbors better than the life he was living at home with his parents? Not much is mentioned about Steve's life at home during the show other than his parents were scientists. But if you take the show out of its format of just being a sitcom and put it into a real-world aspect it's easy to figure out what was going on. We start with why Steve urkel was so attracted to Laura Winslow a young lady from the start was totally honest about her feelings towards him and how much she disliked him for 90% of the shell she detested Steve urkel and made it no secret why was he still attracted to her? Then in the later episode when they were older has Steve urkel started dating Myra a young lady who was clearly attracted to Steve accepted Steve from who he was and genuinely and truly loves Steve and treated Steve better than anyone had ever treated Steve. But Steve still chose to chase behind Laura Winslow. The question is why, which brings us back to his home life. From what I could tellthe only reason Steve would make these decisions what's due to his home life being even more mentally emotionally and verbally abusive then what he would receive outside. Specifically from his mother. In real life the only men who are attracted to verbally abusive women are men who are raised by verbally abusive women. So you don't have to look deep to find out why Steve was attracted to Laura because Laura reminded him of his mother who had an absentee relationship with him which made Steve chase behind a girl who did not want to be with him.

No buddy, you had that wrong way round. She wasnt worthy of you. Unconditional love and absolute devotion are rare and while it doesn't mean you should lie and say you feel something for someone you dont. By God show it and him the respect he deserves!!!

I can tell Steve cares and is really in love with Laura. That is indisputable. But someone really needed to teach him to not push so hard. It was making Laura very uncomfortable. Even married couples need time and space everyone and a while. Steve really needed to give Laura space, but no one was around to teach him that.

Myra taught Steve to give Laura space later, when she kept stalking him and invading his privacy in season 5 (remember, she followed him into the boy's locker room and drew a picture of him naked without his knowledge). Myra pretty much showed Steve how NOT to make someone fall in love with you.
