Just to let the world know, we're working hard to re-open the service from Kemble to Cirencester, partly along the old route as far as Park Lease. There's a lot yet to do, but we're convinced that the train is a vital part of saving the planet!

Nice film but "railway station" please. Also the small informal stopping place is a "halt" not a holt.

Lovely film that is a wonderful wallow in nostalgia. I wish it was like this today instead of having the horrid Waitrose and other modern development in its place. Aren't we sorry that it has all gone?

An interesting video. I remember catching the Railbus at Chesterton Halt. Did you know they're known as train stations to citizens of the USA, we call them railway stations?

Marvellous. The view from the top of the church (is it that ?) is spectacular. If you would share more information bits that would be great. For e.g. I read that the Abbey Grounds were gifted to the public by William Chester-Master in 1965. They really are the heart of Cirencester for me.

That took me back, layout the same as the 70's in places, saw Steve Vizor's place, Paul Smith's house , Patterson Road where Tanner lived, (and the lad who died in that crash), the Coates house and many more........ seems weird the old Jag MK10 was not parked up on the corner, then you pinch yourself and wonder where that 50 years went, was in town just last week and popped in Pete Hammonds, another part of Ciren history sadly leaving us. No matter if you were a Golden Farm, Wheatsheaf, Aggie or whatever clan at the time, it was our shared youth, now no more Youth club, cinema or Stax (Corn Hall), LLoyds burgers.........all just distant memories.

Also, try doing similar shooting while driving a bicyle - if you are comfortable on one, that is. just for a change of pace and to naturally take in more of the views of the landmarks that one is driving by.

Having visited Cirencester recently, I am really enjoying these videos on the town - this one and several others, in a series. In fact this is a service that even Google does not provide. I think it is worth doing this for other towns as well. If you would show a map of the town in the beginning of the video, then draw in a boundary of the area you intend to cover in that video, and give the viewer a little time to take in the street names and landmarks from the map, this video would perform a useful function apart from the enjoyment. In this way, as you actually traverse the streets, the viewer can relate it to the map. In fact, you might even show close-ups to the map again as you take major turns on your route. Ofcourse this would have to be done at editing stage and you may not have the facility to do so..
