I need to measure forces in the micronewton range. Can I do this with piezoelectric sensors?
@KistlerGroup8 күн бұрын
Our piezoelectric force sensors are often used in micro-vibration measurements for the space industry (see www.kistler.com/INT/en/C00000039). The challenge is not only the capability of the sensor, but also on how to isolate the test stand from the surrounding environment. Please contact our local sales representative who will guide you through the sensor selection process and give you tips on how to minimize the influence of the environment.

Witzig!

Could someone please explain to me why this effect cannot be used to generate electricity?
@KistlerGroup2 жыл бұрын
Hi Kelly, thank you for this interesting question. Theoretically, the piezoelectric effect can be used to generate electricity. There are several research projects around the world, and the first prototypes have already been developed. For example, researchers have produced small piezo chips and integrated them into the soles of shoes to generate electricity when walking or running. The small fly in the ointment: This is just enough to light up an LED! In summary, it is theoretically feasible, but not yet implementable on a large scale. However, we are excited to see what science will bring in the next few years.
@kellycarver25002 жыл бұрын
@@KistlerGroup I understand that it is the sudden pressure on the piezo chips that vauses the spark, but why couldn't a person put a clamp on those chips, so they produce constant power? Or how about putting them in a canister that has been pressurized? Has anyone tried this? And how do they react with magnets in these circumstances, any idea?
@kellycarver25002 жыл бұрын
@@KistlerGroup It seems to me that there SHOULD be what I'd call a 'sweet spot'. The exact point of pressure where the spark is created, and if a person could find that spot and find a way to create that exact amount of constant pressure..Since the piezo sings at all, there SHOULD be way to make her sing all the time, without constant work on our part.. Lol.

so 2 years later now. Japan is testing something with implementing piezo sensors in the streets so when a lot of people walk on it they produce some energy to help charge the cities.

The phase shift is in the nature of the filter and cannot be avoided. If the phase shift is known, it may be possible to correct it in a software-based post-processing tool.
