When I started collecting handbags, my goal was to have a luxury handbag collection of 50. Over the years, Iâve been amazed at how much the kislux has changed my perspective on how many bags I really need, and Iâve been pleasantly surprised with every bag Iâve purchased.

Omg those ring spacers are one of my all time favourites! I have been engaged for a year and a half now and changed it out like 3x. What absolute life savers! I also recommend getting a jewellery (specifically ring) cleaning kit! I have cleaned mine twice now because it has a bunch of smaller diamonds around the main one, so more stuff is likely to make it look more foggy and it cleans it so well. I love when it looks brand new and sparkly.... sorry for the rant haha Also you have tempted me to pick up Legendary and the peanut butter cups haha I hope I love them too!

I think it’s so intriguing how we as a capitalistic society have gotten to the point where being asked why we need something, or bringing in thought on purchases is seen as an attack or ‘downing’ the mood. I’ve found myself feeling this way when my husband has asked me the same questions your fiancé does! I love being more aware of what I want, and tracking my purchases has made me feel so in control of my emotional spending for sure ❤

I went through a big mindset shift when I was around your age as well, I'm in my mid-30s now. Aside from considering what you will actually use and whether or not you have money to spare at the time when you're considering a purchase, I also try to consider whether or not I want to take responsibility for the thing itself. When you're looking at something really cheap or on sale, say if you're in a thrift shop looking at things that feel really low-stakes, for me it becomes more about "do I want to bring this thing into my life and see it every day?" I feel like this works with things like drugstore makeup, clothes on sale, little decorative homeware things, etc. If you have the tastes and budget for high end makeup, don't buy makeup on sale at the drugstore because the novelty will wear off and you won't end up reaching for it unless it turns out to be the absolute best version of that type of product. I don't even look at drugstore makeup anymore because I know that's me. It doesn't mean you can never buy anything, but when you're more considered about what you buy, and you pay attention and try to be honest with yourself about your success rate, it makes it much easier to not buy things when you have a strong framework for what you actually like and use. It doesn't mean you'll never get it wrong, but you'll get it wrong a lot less often. It's easier to take time to think about the expensive purchases, but the smaller ones are the things that really clutter up your life because you barely even notice them happening and it hurts less when you get it wrong. The other thing to keep in mind that I think about a lot is that everything is set up to keep us consuming. Companies know that buying something (even if we don't even really want it) gives us a little hit and makes us feel good. It's why you bought that puffer vest, because even if you didn't practically need it and probably won't use it, it felt good to get a hit and we get it whenever we buy something. Try to just watch that feeling in yourself and pay attention to it. I almost never go to the shops just to browse, because you'll end up buying something you don't need. If you don't know the puffer vest was there, you'd never miss it and won't have lost anything by not buying it. I know shopping feels good, but that's exactly why people have so much stuff they don't need/want/like/use. Because you went to Target, you saw it and it was cute, it felt good to get that hit of buying something new, and now the thing itself has little to no value. It's not a personal failing, it happens to all of us sometimes and everything is designed to keep us buying things we don't need, it's just trying to adjust your mindset and remember when you're looking at stuff that you'll have to take it home and become responsible for it and just see whether you still want it when you have that in mind.

I agree it's kinda nice to hear you rant lol I notice some people don't ask themselves any questions when buying stuff. So as a reference to help those struggling, here is sorta what goes through the mind of a non overconsumer when purchasing: -do i have the money? After all bills are paid, and basic and future necessities are taken into account? -can i do without? -if i can do without but it will just bring me joy: how much additional value will this 1 thing bring me over its entire lifetime? -what other things could i do with this money, and would that other thing bring me more joy? -where will i store this? -would i still want this if the price was double / if there was no discount? Best of luck Vivian. Having actual plans like buying a house definitely helped me save up more. It's so much more fulfilling to have a goal that you're working towards rather than just filling the void :)

I’ve been going through the same changes. It’s a hard balance to try to have a smaller wardrobe versus getting rid of things and regretting it though! I’m trying to be much more mindful of what I buy AND what I’m declutterring.

If you add a little blue pigment (elf has an amazing one) you can adjust your too orange/yellow foundations to be more olive friendly! Also idk how the algorithm brought me here so long after this was posted 😂

I definitely understand the trouble with finding olive undertones in foundation. I noticed that regardless of the undertone I use in almost any foundation, it never looks quite right. I have the about face one on my wishlist once I work through the foundations I have :) I also don’t even bother buying primers anymore. I wipe my face with a cotton pad soaked in witch hazel, then use a hydrating toner and sunscreen. I also have a weird thing with a lot of primer textures? Like if they’re super sticky and tacky, I can’t deal with it, if they feel super silicon-y, I can’t deal with it. So I just quit trying 😂 Nice video!

I had that blush oil and I despise it!!😂😂 It doesn't last, it is hard to control and know how much to use. I ended up getting rid of it. $38 down the drain!!

I love hearing your opinion on this! :) I too have to go more towards high end foundation/concealer because I have super pale skin but an olive undertone and that just isn't catered towards in the drug store.

I am holding out on buying the “from the garden” replica perfume until I finish some of the ones I have 😬 I want to smell like a tomato leaf so bad tho! I’ve found that putting a bold fragrance as a bottom layer and a lighter one on top can help tame those bold scents a bit. Also, I totally layer scents that I don’t really like with one that I love to help use them up. I find I prefer muskier or fruitier perfumes so I put those on top of a super sweet fragrance usually :)

your spreadsheet is amazing! it looks like so much fun to use as well for any phase whether purchasing, emptying, and even in the future for looking back at which products you truly enjoyed (in my experience i tend to forget certain products that i emptied and loved over time, so the rating columns is a great idea for a quick overview and reminder)!

I’ve thought about a spreadsheet but I’m much more of a pen and paper kind of gal. It’s been helpful for me to cross off the used up products. I’m starting to declutter old products because there’s just so much of certain products like lip products. Good luck on your panning journey this year!

I think the main reason I don’t like it is just that it is too light for my skin tone and what my natural freckles look like. I also think the tone is slightly too orange on me, but I think this would work much better on fairer skin tones!

When you have products that are difficult to track, it could maybe be interesting to keep track of the actual usage. For example "I used it 10 times this month".

I actually thought about that as I was editing this video! I remember doing the same thing when I was trying to pan my rare beauty liquid blush. I will be counting my uses starting this month :)

It’s clear that you are beating yourself up a bit for not using these products; as much as it is important to try to avoid overconsumption, I’d also like to encourage you not to beat yourself up. Our everyday lives are so so so saturated with constant advertisement, it is genuinely hard to exist online in any capacity and not be bombarded with advertisement. It’s okay to recognize that hey, at one point this particular product served you, or maybe it didn’t serve any role except to reinforce that you don’t like/don’t use that type of product. The best thing you can do is take note and try to make better purchasing decisions in the future :) I am also learning these sorts of lessons myself. I look forward to seeing more of your videos and hope that your wedding planning is going well!❤

Totally me, I had a crisis today cause I've been noticing my concealers look too yellow (warm ones) and the cool ones looked too pink. I dyed my hair yesterday and it doesn't look bad but I look SO green :((( so I'm considering being an olive. I'll go tomorrow and swatch some foundations :)
