Tip: add a sloped curve in between lift hill pieces to make a spiral lift hill, or add steep un-lifted pieces in between lift pieces to make a very compact lift hill. These do require longer trains though but can make for very compact designs

Very inspiring park man good job! I was wondering how you pulled of the diagonal path and fence at 4:14 in the video, is that a custom scenery fence? Same for the waterfall, it looks great! I’m currently in need of a diagonal waterfall for my megapark, could you sent me in the direction on where to find it?

Small advice: If you don't use cheats it's a neat idea to lower the ground below the building one step so you can put in base-blocks as a "floor. That way looking through the windows doesn't show grass.

Or just repaint the ground some other color. I like using the neon colors to paint the inside of buildings, or the black/white tile color, or even the standard “concrete” looking color.

This is awesome. As we spoke previously, there was not a video out there like this one. SLOW, methodical with instructions. So, thank you. I originally thought (newbie here) that the functionality of my keyboard on my iMac desktop was the issue. I am using Open RCT3 and am also learning, that many people have different games, on different devices with all kinds of versions going on, and learning what version I am ultimately on. TY

I’m glad the video was helpful. And you’re not alone when it comes to needing a more concise tutorial so I’m glad this was sufficient. I’ve found that once you learn the more technical mechanics of the game, it can be tough to go back and explain the more basic ones even though it’s a super steep learning curve initially

I didn't know exactly how the ctrl button worked, Marcel Vos's video made it seem like you need to hold shift and ctrl at the same time. Good to learn you just have to mouse over the scenery piece. A handy tip you might not know: you can keep ctrl held while you rotate your piece and it will stay at the same level when you go back to placing it (at least in OpenRCT2, not sure about vanilla)
@hardhat
@hardhat 6 ай бұрын
I’ll definitely try it in classic to see how it works, but I always just manually turn the piece although I think I’ll probably start using more hot keys to save time in the future

Hi! I'm starting in the OpenRCT2 world of detailing and I want to say your channel is awesome and a source of inspiration. I have some questions tho. Which workbench do you recommend? And in case you have multiple workbenches but just want to play with one, is there an option to uninstall a workbench or you just not select those objects in the object selection menu?
@hardhat
@hardhat 6 ай бұрын
I appreciate the support and I’m glad the videos are helping! Personally I use a workbench called “Xtreme97 2018”. Personally I just use that one because I’m used to it and I’m super familiar with where all the objects are in that specific group. I’ve downloaded several, however I’ve never tried to delete them but I almost never use anything else besides the 2018 workbench. The good news is that in the last couple versions of openrct2, there’s now plenty of object slots so using multiple workbenches is pretty easy! Definitely takes time to get used to but it’s always worth it to see all the options that are available

How do you make your scenery walls go up a slope like it's on an incline when the land is flat? Are they special scenery pieces or is there a button you press to angle them?
@hardhat
@hardhat 6 ай бұрын
The slopes are a little tough. You can’t actually build walls on slopes and the only way I get the slopes to look right is by putting fences on the outside of the of the flat walls to cover the empty space. Unfortunately even that can only be done in Openrct2 using scenery cheats

Intresting to see how much an info building can do for the appearance of a park. Am curious to see what you will do with the swining ship for I found that I struggle decoration that thing lately 😂. Where did you happen to get the custom entrance paths btw? Great vid, cheers! 🎉

Yeah the info building will need to be updated next episode, or possibly off camera in between with a before and after but as for the swinging ship, I have 0 plans so far lol but will hopefully be able to come up with something nice for the next video. The custom entrance paths were downloaded as part of a custom scenery pack. If I remember correctly, they came with mk98’s custom workbench on nedesigns.com but not 100% sure about that

Looks nice so far. Why not incorporate the info building shops into the entrance building. Then you can use the space from the info building for a nice fountain or garden.
@hardhat
@hardhat 6 ай бұрын
That’s a good idea! I originally wanted to make it the centerpiece/focal point of the entrance plaza, but in reality it would make more sense for an info building to be off to the side like it would be in a normal theme park. Also love your videos btw I’m trying to learn how shoestringing works and your videos have been a huge help in learning some of the basics

I have a little problem with entrance and exit custom building because I cannot build on the tile even when there is no entrance option picked. But I don’t really know if you build fences and everything on that tile.
@hardhat
@hardhat 6 ай бұрын
The custom entrance and exit buildings are tough unless you have OpenRCT2 and can turn on the "disable clearance checks" cheat. This isn't really possible unless you have OpenRCT2 (which is great if you do) but oif you happen to be playing on RCT Classic or an original version of the game, I recommend using either the Canvas Tent or the Abstract Entrances for all your rides (I just think those look the best). After that, you can use the fences to place around the flat rides and just that I think makes the rides look a lot better. My next video will be ways to decorate your park with no cheats at all so hopefully that will help as well
@carm3lx__223
@carm3lx__223 6 ай бұрын
@@hardhat Okay thanks for help! I play with OpenRCT2 and I very likely didn’t turn this cheat on. I also agree that tent and abstract entrances are the best because they fit to most of the rides.

@@SippyCupAdventures I apologize for the issues with the watchability on this video and will try to make my next ones a bit less speedy. I definitely recommend this tutorial from Marcel Vos on the basics of scenery building using the Ctrl and Shift keys. This is how I build all of my designs and Marcel does a great job at explaining the mechanics in a very straightforward way. After the response from this video, I've decided that in the near future, I'm going to make a step-by-step tutorial on designing just one building and going through each step very deliberately (and slower). In the meantime, hopefully Marcel's video can be a solid resource to get the basics down: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mF7Oip2Xd91lgck
