Salaamu Alikoum wa rahmatu Allah wa barakatu. I'm wondering if these fiqh lessons are enough? Also there are different fiqh lessons uploaded of sheikh Hamza Yusuf. I'm confused to which to learn . Also what book did he use ?
@nadeema.76994 жыл бұрын
Wa 'alaykum salam wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh. You can see the cover of the book in the video, it's called "The Helping Guide Concerning Essential Religious Knowledge of Sidi 'Abd al-Wahid Ibn 'Ashir, Translated, Introduced and Annoted by Hamza Yusuf." If I remember correctly, the book was scheduled to be published by Zaytuna some 10+ years ago, but was eventually never released. The Arabic original is called "المرشد المعين على الضروري من علوم الدين." It seems that most of the videos on KZbin are taken from the same series of lectures. Unfortunately, the ones on this channel here stop about half way through, but you can continue here kzbin.info/www/bejne/r5W5iKSvhtiNras or here kzbin.info/www/bejne/aXbKpKmkbsulqqs. As for whether these lessons are enough, it depends on what your goal is, really. If you're trying to get a good overview on the topic, I believe you are in the right place. Unfortunately, not everybody out there can be trusted, but Sh. Hamza is almost invariably a safe reference, al-hamdu lillah. Feel free to ask more if need be.

What did the Prophet (pbuh) do with Aisha's (RA) puppy? Did it stay outside at all time afterwards? What if the dog is scared being outside, or the weather is bad? Are these exceptions to the impermissibility of having a dog inside the house?
@MichaelGriffin-wv5tx6 жыл бұрын
Hammad S According to maliki school its fine for dogs to stay in the house period.

Astaghfirullah; " . . it is a lowlife mentality that wants a pit-bull . .. " Brother, I love your videos and I am far from being any kind of scholar. However, I respectfully disagree. We rescued our pit-bull from a very sad situation and no, I am not a criminal. You can not generalize and stereotype this breed, it only says that you have no experience with the breed for you to call them "wild animals". It is not the animal, but it is the owner who is to blame for this breed's bad public opinion and you are perpetuating an injustice upon this breed by labeling the pit-bull as some "wild animal". We have owned our pit-bull for more than 10 years now and she has never once acted out in an aggressive manner once. In fact, she was attack on two different occasions by other dogs thought to be less aggressive than are pit-bulls so mistakenly believed to be. Your comment that the pit-bull is worse than a gun and that they are absolutely haram to own troubles me deeply. Please, reexamine your comments and give them some more consideration also, provide your proof that they are absolutely haram to own. I know of no Nass that is explicit in condemning this breed of dogs over others or any Nass that makes it clear that owning a dog is wrong or haram. In fact, I find the exact opposite in the Book of Allah in which Allah says that it is permissible to eat the food from the hunt that is captured by your dogs in the manner in which we have been taught to teach them how to hunt. So, please, explain yourself further or please retract these comments. Respectfully.

I was going to make a similar comment. I don't own a pit-bull, but I'm aware that some are very sweet. However, Sheikh Hamza didn't say they were wild animals but at the verge of wild animals. Albeit, I'm curious on why he said pit-bulls are haram. I fully respect him, he is a scholar and a human. But, perhaps what you're saying is an exception to pit-bulls, Michael Alker?
@hammads90456 жыл бұрын
Perhaps he's speaking from his area/culture. I mean, if you want to know something, you go to the scholar in your area, not in a different continent. Bcuz your closest scholar will know the trials and issues of your society.

i think he was just using common sense based on his general view of them so use your own discretion of course, that is his viewpoint its okay to disagree.
@michaeldonaldalker734 жыл бұрын
I am not sure which comment/comments you are referencing, but I know for sure that even the scholars of fiqh do not agree on the issue of dogs, owning dogs as pets and/or the saliva of dogs i.e. just how najaas the saliva is. All Muslims should know that Allah speaks positive of the dog of the Companions of the cave. Allah Sub’hana wa ta’ala tells us in Qur’aan, as you pointed out, that eating the food that you taught your dog how to hunt is perfectly halal. I have never been of any opinion that owning a dog, to hunt and/or protect your home is haram ! So. If some comment exist somewhere in which it seems that I have that opinion then please know that, that is not my position. I love animals, especially the dog ! In fact, I own a dog ! So, how could I have such an opinion ? Again, I am not sure of the comments that you are speaking about. But again, it is not my position that owning a dog even as a pet is haram ! No ! In fact, owning a dog is very positive and healthy. It is the saliva of the dog that scholars differ over and not whether owning them is haram or not. Scholars differed over whether washing the utensils that dogs lick 7 times is an act of ibaadah or just a precaution. The difference that exist over the dog is not whether it is haram or not. That has never been the question. The question is, how najaas is the saliva of a dog. People from the West love to cause fitna among Muslims and they optimize on the differences of scholars and the ignorance of none scholars Muslims to do this ! Do not let fitna in our ranks ! السلام عليكم !

As Salaamu 'Alaykum, beloved brother, Hamza Yusuf. I am so grateful for all that you do in the cause of Allah and May Allahu sub'hana wa ta 'ala reward you in this life as well as the next. I watch all of your videos and am so grateful for all the things I have learned about the deen of Allah by and through watching your videos. However, if you would please pardon me, I would like to ask you for the dalil you relied upon to make the statement that to own a pit-bull is absolutely Haram. I must respectfully disagree with your comment that only people who are criminals own pit-bulls . Because I am not a criminal and I do own a pit-bull, one that we rescued from a seriously bad situation. The stereotypes of ignorance put over these most loving and kind animals because of some irresponsible owner is baseless and unfounded. Only someone who knows absolutely nothing about this breed of animals could make such stereotypes about these creatures of Allah sub'hana wa ta 'ala. I respectfully beg you to reexamine your statements made against the owners of this breed of animals and your opinion regarding these most innocent animals. Just like the Ummati Muhammadi is so wrongly judged by the actions of a few wayward "Muslims", so too is this breed largely misjudged by people because of a few ignorant owners. It is not the pit-bull who is to blame for their bad public opinion of them, but it is the fault of a few irresponsible owners. However, you still can not judge them all based on the actions of a few ignoramuses. Please, reexamine your comments and either present your proofs to support your claim that owning a pit-bull is absolutely Haram and offer a better explanation or an apology to the many loving and caring owners of this innocent breed of animals. Respectfully.

Brother Michael, this is a specific confined issue to you or to your experience to properly raised pit-bulls and that however is not the way a general/specific ruling is established. What he means by Haram, as in highly unrecommended as it is highly irresponsible to keep dogs/fierce dogs due to the actual and the highly anticipated accidents that is unnecessarily kept only because of a person's liking to pitbulls/dogs. And according to mathhabs prevention of harm or removal of it takes precedence over deriving a benefit and in Maliki, prevention of pretext @16:50-17:00. Plus, it is highly discouraged to keep dogs for leisure let alone keeping them IN our homes, for the obvious references and the obvious reasons. Also, just because there is no direct/clear NASS on the permissiblility or impermissiblility doesnt mean they can't become permissible or impermissible due to the methodology of deriving rulings from the Islamic Shariah accepted references. And Allah SubHaanaHu wa Taaala Knows Best.
