I visited the exhibition in earlyJune and I loved it. I was just a bit frustrated not to see an English version of the catalog. I wonder if there will be one in the future. Or maybe I didn't get the correct information. Will this extraordinary exhibition be shown in other cities?

To add to this , as a present to my parents , on my birth , Mr's Sterling presented My Parents with a six to seven inch , very heavy , Silver apostle spoon , stating , this is one of only two like this and the other belonged to the Queen Mother . Sadly it was stolen from us many years ago !

18:47 for instance... this illustration shows fallen angels doing statues and stuff, giving my research the missing motivation. Thank you. Fallen Angels did everything amazing, it truly is a miracle what they built. Sadly the current deep state mission is to destroy this with wars.

So enjoying this! As an aside - the photo of King's Cross at 31:13 looks very like the setting of Rossetti's unfinished "Found"; well, it does to me 😀

I'm so thrilled to see this turn up on KZbin. I have recently begun my own research into Charlotte Babb, having bought, about thirty years ago - in a job lot of "prints in frames", an early student piece by the artist. I treasure it, and have done some research of my own into her life and work, both artistic and political.

Stunningly good presentation. The whole issue of both De Morgan's use of reflective materials to achieve a sense of luminosity is endlessly fascinating. I so love how that luminosity almost always reflects the personal emotional sense of the importance of the subject. A visual poetics of light really. Your work on the De Morgans is deeply appreciated. The much deserved wider viewership will come sooner than you imagine.

What a lovely, fascinating and extraordinarily informative video. As a lifelong lover of both Victorian art and The Delaware Art Museum this video was pure pleasure. The exhibit was a big step in giving the astonishing work of Evelyn De Morgan and her husband the critical and popular attention they deserve. But for anyone who has been enthralled by a retrospective or special exhibition of any artist this video will bring alive the background work by specialists necessary to make an exhibition work. The discussion of the stunning arrangement of some of the ceramics of WIlliam De Morgan to harmonize with the figures in Evelyn De Morgan's painting "The Cadence of Autumn" took my breath away. Great job on the Video and the exhibition.

Andrew Graham-Dixon suggests that Caravaggio murdered Ranuccio Tomassoni during a pre-arranged duel because of an insult that Caravaggio had levelled at Tomassoni's wife, Lavinia.

Different era but it reminds me of when the Italian Ambassador had just returned from a poisonous gas conference and Mussolini asked him which was the most dangerous gas. "Incense" was the reply ;)

Great talk, Christina, thanks very much. Apparently, Millais made a technical error in his painting of the double rainbow in the Blind Girl: he painted the colours in the same order but actually the orders are reversed when seen together. When this was pointed out to him he re-painted the inner one !

I saw this painting at the Legion of Honor a few years ago. The colors are stunning and vibrant in real life. It's easily one of the most beautiful paintings I've come across and I'm not sure why it isn't much more popular than it is. You really have to see it to see how vibrant it is.

Anna's painting of the Holland Park interior aroused my interest when I saw it at The Russell-Cotes Gallery some years ago in Bournemouth near to where I live. I knew about Sir Lawrence from some books I have in my collection about him and it was really interesting to hear about his wider family and how talented they all were. Thankyou Susie.
