It's becoming clear that with all the brain and consciousness theories out there, the proof will be in the pudding. By this I mean, can any particular theory be used to create a human adult level conscious machine. My bet is on the late Gerald Edelman's Extended Theory of Neuronal Group Selection. The lead group in robotics based on this theory is the Neurorobotics Lab at UC at Irvine. Dr. Edelman distinguished between primary consciousness, which came first in evolution, and that humans share with other conscious animals, and higher order consciousness, which came to only humans with the acquisition of language. A machine with only primary consciousness will probably have to come first. What I find special about the TNGS is the Darwin series of automata created at the Neurosciences Institute by Dr. Edelman and his colleagues in the 1990's and 2000's. These machines perform in the real world, not in a restricted simulated world, and display convincing physical behavior indicative of higher psychological functions necessary for consciousness, such as perceptual categorization, memory, and learning. They are based on realistic models of the parts of the biological brain that the theory claims subserve these functions. The extended TNGS allows for the emergence of consciousness based only on further evolutionary development of the brain areas responsible for these functions, in a parsimonious way. No other research I've encountered is anywhere near as convincing. I post because on almost every video and article about the brain and consciousness that I encounter, the attitude seems to be that we still know next to nothing about how the brain and consciousness work; that there's lots of data but no unifying theory. I believe the extended TNGS is that theory. My motivation is to keep that theory in front of the public. And obviously, I consider it the route to a truly conscious machine, primary and higher-order. My advice to people who want to create a conscious machine is to seriously ground themselves in the extended TNGS and the Darwin automata first, and proceed from there, by applying to Jeff Krichmar's lab at UC Irvine, possibly. Dr. Edelman's roadmap to a conscious machine is at arxiv.org/abs/2105.10461

Are you allowed to do this? A uniformed theory has eluded scientists since the birth of science and now you’ve come along and proposed a unified theory by bringing consciousness into it… well done but where is your Nobel prize?

You assume consciousness relies on 5 senses ultimate flaw in the 1st essence of your theory. Your basing your theory on einsteins (little E) "theory". Which he found himself to be fundamentally flawed. dream states completely (not debunk) but for lack of a better term throw shade on this theory.

So, in a nutshell, you're taking Einstein's e = MC^2 and substituting light with consciousness. This is a pretty sexy theorem. I like where you're headed...

Greetings Dr. Mahendra, I found your presentation fascinating and believe myself that our consciousness energy is a part of our reality. I would like your thoughts on Gravitation. Could gravity be actually what we call space, the quantum vacuum itself but only presents itself when interacting with matter?

Hi There is a bigger problem that we can't control as an outcome. outcome of what ?? the outcome of the shifting of the magnetic earth. that is the source of the climate change. the earth is shifting and no one wants to talk about it , we can't control it . somebody for a "political/economic agenda " jumped on the issue and made it like we see it now. carbon footprint and emission and cow farts and useless eaters. the last magnetic pole shift was about 780,000 years ago, it happen that we're having another one and we are living through it and that's why we are having this weird unpredictable weather patterns , somebody has an agenda and currently politicizing the issue. No one was able to say if the shifting is physical or just the magnetic field only. They don't know, if the shifting is physical, this means that one day the sun will rise from the west , so earth will literally flip upside down. If it is only the magnetic field then there will be no more " Sahara " and Africa will turn to be jungles like the Amazon . We could have Africa to be the new North pole !!! Is it going to be ?? It could be India, no one has the answer because we don't know scientifically speaking, but it is taking place as we speak and everything is recorded and monitored. All they know is the earth is shifting and they kept it a secret from people. Please Dr Mahendra, look into what I wrote and investigate for yourself and don't jump on false positive data indicating wrong causes and issues . it is not carbon foot print and emission issues and for sure I am not denying the fact that we polluted earth , but this issue of climate change has nothing to do with that. let me remind of something, look into how many times world countries detonated nuclear bombs like real bombs for testing and yet we didn't have nuclear winter. This is false statement: United Nations Climate change refers to long-term shifts in temperatures and weather patterns, mainly caused by human activities, especially the burning of fossil fuels.
