Im looking at that and thinking "Where's the big deal?" My mother was 60 when she bought her last car, a 1990 Volvo 240 estate. She put about 200,000 miles on it. During those 25 years she used it as a 1 ton truck, it went off roading and soft roading with zero prep and zero mods. After she had to stop driving I took it over and added another 200,000+ miles in 8 years. That car often went through mud, snow, and whatever in the course of my work. It went places 4 wheel drives were having touble with. That looks like fun to me!

This is a fantastic project, but come on, Jonny, this isn't the first new car to compete on the Lands End. First of all it's two years old, and for most of the Lands End's first twenty years all the cars were two years old or newer! Secondly, there was a brand new Ford Escort on a Lands End in the 1990s.

You could lighten the skid by drilling holes in it 🤷🏻♂️

Don't want to lighten it - need it for fwd ballast

you should try to tether the go pros to the car so in the event that they fall of they won't go to far

I think the front springs are struggling with the added weight up front by the way it keeps bouncing as you drive. Good luck guys. I'll be fun to see how it goes. Cheers 🇨🇦

Why do you keep calling this a "brand new car"? The 71 plate means it was registered in late 2021, and there is also a newer Picanto available which looks different.
@CJMVector321190Сағат бұрын
Nice car, glad it is on the channel, G wagons are unique though, better than the ICE version i would think. Price will be eye watering. but 3 tonnes is like other big EVs a bit lazy in the design. For Evs to really work we need loads of 7 KW destination chargers that mean batteries can be smaller to get lighter more efficient EVs.

That big steel plate underneath might well save some components but will also lead to a lot of beaching like you experienced there. A series of smaller plates might have been better.

Would the regs have allowed you'll to at least weld the diff so that you'd have had traction on both front wheels ?

Yes, but on the road the car would have been intolerable for long distance
