Cleaver Infusion 🌿🧚 Celtic folklore suggests that drinking a cleaver infusion every day for nine weeks would make you so beautiful that everybody would fall in love with you, and taking a bath infused with cleavers would make a woman successful in love. 🤍 Cleavers have an extensive global presence, and can be found abundantly for most of the year. You will find them in woodlands, hedges, along roadsides and on wasteland. 🌳 Cleaver is also known as goosegrass, as it is a favourite food of geese. It also has many other nicknames including ‘sticky willy’, ‘gripgrass’ and ‘sticking bob’. 🌿 Tiny hairs on the leaves make them stick to clothes and fur. It is a natural plaything for kids, and an annoyance for pet owners! How to identify - 🌿 The leaves are narrow and pointed, and grow in a circle of 6 to 8 leaves around the central square stem. 🌿 They contain tiny, hook-shaped hairs that make the plant ‘sticky’. 🌿 They produce tiny white, star-shapes flowers, followed by round, sticky seeds. Benefits - Cleavers are arguably one of the most important and effective lymphatic tonic herbs in the world. Meaning they help to flush out toxins, decreasing congestion and reducing swelling. ✨ They help to support the immune system, decrease congestion, and are currently being studied on their ability to inhibit cancer cell growth. Topically they may help to combat eczema and psoriasis. ✨ Of course, the taste is all-important. It has a very refreshing taste, reminiscent of cucumber water. Method - 🌿 Add the cleavers and water to a large jar and cover. For a stronger infusion you can chop the cleavers befpre adding them to the jar. 🧚 Allow to infuse for a minimum of 4 hours (I reccomend infusing overnight) 🌿 Strain and drink! Enjoy! 🌿✨🧚 ❗️ Remember - only pick something if you’re 100% sure of your identification.

Rose Hip Oxymel ❤️🌹 Herbal winter medicine ❀ ɞ˚‧。⋆ Rosehip season is one of my favourites! 🥹 Rose hips are the fruit of the rose - all of which are edible. ❤️ It is best to wait until after the first real frost to harvest, which increases the depth of sweetness, vitamin C, and medicine in the hips. Rosehips are extremely high in vitamin C, about 20 times the amount found in an orange! 🌹 Oxymels are ancient remedies combining herbs, vinegar (Oxy-) and honey (-Miele). Vinegar is great to use as an extract for vitamins and minerals, particularly vitamin C, which we don't produce on our own, so must add into our diet! This recipe is never heated, so it retains all of the goodness & potency! ❤️ To make this Oxymel, add the plants of your choice - this time I used just rose hips - but it’s also incredible with added fresh ginger and a cinnamon stick. You can experiment with your desired flavours and healing herbs! 🫚 Fill the jar to about 3/4 full. Cover in raw/unfiltered apple cider vinegar & cover with parchment paper ( prevents corrosion) & a lid. 🫙 Label & place in a cool, dark space for 4-8 weeks. Strain through a fine mesh sieve or muslin towel. Now mix about 1/2 as much honey as you have vinegar into the strained vinegar. So if you have 1 cup of vinegar, add in 1/2 cup honey. 🍯 Use more or less depending on your taste! Take a wooden teaspoon (stainless steel kills nutrients) or more daily as a supplement in water, add to teas or sparkling water and stir into salad dressings. ❤️ Enjoy! 😍🥰
