You forgot to mention that Michael Co-Produced Say,Say,Say. Michael was interested in making the song soulful. So he took the initiative and produced it himself from the acoustic version that Paul has given him on tape. He wanted to present it his musical direction to Paul. Paul McCARTNEY.went for it. Interesting story.

Rewatch it because ms Ross waved to ms Labelle.. it isn't that serious.. because Emmanuel is so little we forget how old he is.. ms Ross is in a picture with ms Warwick when ms Dionne is in the hospital after giving birth to her son .. the ms Cindy Birdsong situation was simply The Supremes had a contractual obligation in which Ms Ballard got sick and they The Supremes were one girl down it was mr Gordy who brought the idea ms Birdsong could pass for ms Ballard on the stage and Motown wouldn't have to give the money back.. it wasn't a taken it was a borrow that remained

The 83 Ross album first single was Muscles but i agree there wasn't a clear plan for this album and truthfully there weren't for many women who were black and considered Pop because The Supremes were Pop ms Ross genre were R&B.. ms Labelle and ms Knight were More Down home champions and ms Diana Ross relationship with the Black community wasn't clear..i love ms Knight and believe her voice is one of the most Soulful voices of her generation..i love ms Labelle but i enjoy her more live on stage but Kiss Away The Pain is a favorite alongside The group Labelle

Michael Jackson called Berry Gordy and asked him to play the Scarecrow. Suzanne de Passe talked about this several interviews. By the Jacksons no longer being apart of the Motown family, Berry was reluctant on having him play the role.

The Wiz did change his life! He moved into his own apartment with his sister Latoya and got to live a bit ..Was going to Studio 54 having fun..But if it wasn't for The Wiz Quincy and Michael would've never happened and Thriller would never have happened!! Crazy!!

Great conversation. There's a lot of this that's missing from the DOC. There needs to be a complete unpacking of LUTHER & HIS DIVAS - including Aretha, Dionne, Diana, Cheryl Lynn, Cissy & The Gyrlz, Whitney Houston, etc. THE COLLABOS. Speaking of ROSS, the true measure of his adoration for ROSS was on her 1987 Red Hot Rhythm & Blues on which his dream truly came true as he wrote and produced "It's Hard For Me To Say" for Ross. Was quite the quiet storm hit in Savannah - to not have been released. Diana resurrected it when she was on OPRAH the final season (a couch serenade from Diana to Oprah) and she's added it into her live act - incorporating images of her long lost Motown family on the big screen behind her.

Why would you choose that Diana album out of all her many classic albums to critique....?
@clbernier219 күн бұрын
Why 1983? Try 1972 because the album Touch Me In the Morning was killer. I actually happen to Love side one of Ross and find the songs amazing…can’t stand side 2.

The sing Somebody's Watching Me was meant to originally for Lenny Kravitz as Rockwell was friends with Lenny Kravitz and he wrote it with him in mind but Lenny Kravitz said Rockwell sing it. So in essence the song could have been Lenny Kravitz, Rockwell and Michael Jackson on one somg together.

Muscles was the name of Michael's pet boa constrictor so it was not opposite of his religion to write that song, it was a clever play on words and he knew what people would think the song was about. When Michael worked with Sir Paul, McCartney was staying at a ranch in California while writing and recording. Michael went to that ranch and stayed with Paul there to work with him. Michael fell in love with that ranch and bought it, it became Neverland.

Also, “Paul” did not put MJ on to buying music masters/publishing. He was doing that even as a teen with Sly and the Family Stone’s music, according to Dick Gregory who met MJ and nursed him back to health after he suffered a collapsed lung on the set of The Wiz. Another narrative crafted to diminish Michael’s shrewd business savvy that he likely learned from being a nosy kid at Motown and from his own father who he cited as a genius. They love to paint one of their “WHYTE Hope” helping out the poor black man that literally grew up in the music business and supposedly knew nothing about his heroes suffering because of not owning their own or any music for that matter. A point he hammered home in a speech during his fight with Sony/Tommy Matolla for not promoting “Invincible” due to racism. Furthermore, Joe Jackson got the Jackson’s a better deal at CBS/Epic and out of their Motown contract for more money and creative control way before MJ met with Quincy and got introduced to “Paul” (plastic Paul is what John Lennon liked to call him before he was mysteriously murdered). The only thing “Paul” put MJ on was the fact that the ATV Catalog that included most of the Beatles music was up for sale and he felt that he didn’t have to buy his music back out of indignation. Almost like it wasn’t a problem if a big corporation bought it, but the fact that a black man from poor, humble beginnings in Gary, Indiana became the owner made him the worst human being to ever walk the face of the planet earth overnight. That’s really when Michael Jackson’s life changed forever because the first “Wacko Jacko” headline started in 1986 right after he sealed the deal on the ATV Catalog.

I love Drama's humor and he's aging backwards! Him and Ms Sphia to me represents the golden age of "Black Gay Atlanta". Black gay culture in Atlanta took a major hit after 2020 ... gentrification, sections, bad music, COST, and the drunken/drugged out/house fights destroyed it. Now many of us have just assimilated to more straight events and spots bc gays are literally everywhere here anyway and it's better experience overall. Or solo or group house parties
