For me who was initially an anime watcher but after switching to the manga in my teenage years, I understood why Ichigo and rukia were more of a close friendship. While orihime was always destined with Ichigo , the jealousy, the soft spoken love , while in my teenage time my wife who was my batch mate never actually bickered like ichiruki or had such an interaction even though we were in love quite like orihime and Ichigo . For most teenagers the interaction is usually soft love filled with nervous and a hidden special feeling which we really try to hide. So I think them being teenagers had an effect on us like they were adults. So I love ichihime , it provides me with how me and my wife usually were in our high school .

Just finished the anime recently and I loved it. It was a really good series and I liked the last episode, to not even mention the reference to “Grave of the fireflies”😢. The only thing that confused me, and then I checked in the manga, was the appearance of Cat Queen (or whatever her name is) in episode 11. She appeared, attacked Ren, stole the tablet, got the tablet stolen by Sumireko immediately after, and then the cat refused to attack Sumireko because “she was nice to her”… and then she just gives up? I read that chapter of the manga and I saw that actually the cat(s) did indeed attack both Ren and Sumireko. I’ll just add another thought of mine: seeing the flowers leading to the library, I really thought that Oto was book lady all along, but probably this theory can only be valid in the anime, since the manga (from what I’ve seen at least) has nothing to do with that.
@camillesharem2 күн бұрын
Really glad that you enjoy the anime! It was great to see the manga get adapted, even if they deviated pretty significantly towards the end. And I hope that the translation of the manga gets all the love! I've been doing my best to keep up with the story far beyond the Cat King Arc, and there's a lot of wild stuff coming up! Yeah, the manga makes it clear that the Librarian is a separate curse/spirit that has an agreement with Sumireko to get her book in the future. She has a vested interest in the heroine, and so she lends help along the way. And there are other patron spirits who will later on play a big role in the story. Oto pretty much becomes the straight man of the group and gets some pretty good moments in the manga's current arc. It's going to be interesting to see what happens with her, because the ghost of real brother is stalking Ren at this point.

What makes it different is that when it was accidental, they meant it. The setup was there, but how it happened and even the aftermath was overglossed instead of dramatized. Instead, the focus was given to their inability to be honest and communicate properly. Contrast this to one of the worst romcom in existence: Rent a Girlfriend, where Kazuya was so preoccupied with a non-accidental kiss that he glossed over Chizuru's important heart-to-heart talk. Dandadaan by no means perfect, but does subtle romance very well despite grossly presenting everything on your face.

Oh, come on. Rings of Power would have been a thousand times more awesome if it was about Galadriel just going around killing shit. Where that show fails is not with the action but with everything else and if it was mindless action most of its problems would actually go away. It would probably still be as bad as a Lord of the Rings prequel but it still would be a better show. John Wick gets boring not because it gets convoluted really but because it is the same thing four times. The story of those movies is secondary to the action and the style and you cannot really binge them because of how little else there is to them. Unlike a book and the majority of film those movies are there just to be spectacles and you do not really need all that much to them - you need a set up, a character presentation and then you can proceed to the spectacle and make the plot serve it instead of the other way around. You do not really need a character arc or a strong supporting cast, hell not even a memorable villain because this is not what the audience is there for. Same thing for Dredd and Mad Max: Fury Road. I'm not saying that Blade in the MCU should be like that but a Blade movie in the same style could totally work. If it was up to me to write a Blade movie for the MCU I would start him up a lot younger as a part of an established team that hunts vampires. They would go against something bigger than they expected or at least not realizing how powerful what it is and then get themselves killed one by one, Blade losing his friends and perhaps a lover in the process and discovering his own strength. In the end I would have him prevail and walk away in a miserable state only to have the best friend/lover be resurrected as a vampire and save the big bad at the end. And after writing this brief synopsis I realize what the biggest problem with both my and the idea presented in the video is - that is not the Blade that people expect. Like it or not they do expect the overconfident lone wolf vampire who could take on hundreds of vampires on his own and for a movie about Blade to be successful they should be given exactly that, at least to start with. Either that or get the most popular Blade comic story and adapt it. Cause when it comes to comic book movies there is a source material which is popular for a reason to begin with.

I agree with most of the video. However, I think there is an argument to be made a fight scene can be memorable in itself rather than just to the extent the story justifies its existence. The reason being, I see fights not as the climax or a beat in a story but a microcosm of the story itself. Basically, within a fight or action scene, there are stakes, conflict, set up, payoff, potentially subversions, etc. Literature Devil did a great video on the subject, where during a prolonged engagement the actions in the story cause the audience to swap between various emotional states. Mad, Sad, Glad, Scared. Basically based on whether the protagonist has the advantage or not in a conflict we should be switching from one state to another. If there is too much action but the stakes don't shift. (Within the fights not just before and after unless its a short engagement. ) Then the fight becomes monotonous and the audience desensitized to what is going on. In either case Macro level like you focused on or Micro level like Literature Devil, the details leading up to the big awesome epic badass moments are just as important. To shill Hyouka again. (Growns internally) the characters are basically tasked with helping some people finish a script for mystery film from three different suggestions. One of them claimed the clues and logical consistency were less important than the big moment when the detective goes "The Culprit is You!" The Classics Club naturally find this very naive. Some of my favorite fights Jojo part 5 could be seen as filler fights from a Macro scale in the grand scheme of the plot. But what goes on during fights was super engaging. I'm sure if you look at any action scene from Brandon Sanderson you'll see that principle of changes in stakes creating different emotional states in the audience yourself. To use an example you're familiar with.
@camillesharem6 күн бұрын
Here's a key to understanding the value in a fight all by itself: Can it stand alone without you ever knowing the story? Now this is tricky because a lot of fights when considered outside of their story are fun to watch and read. But I'd argue that over 90% of them are forgettable to the audience WITHOUT the story. From Mistborn to Jojo's to a Knight's Tale and whatever other story anyone can reference, it's the story that gives us those stakes, helps us empathize with the characters and see their personalities shine through, and make sense of the characters' goals in this fight. If in the moment of the fight, all those details have to be communicated, it usually bogs down the action and muddles the otherwise pristine mechanics of the action. And when a battle/fight becomes overburdened or is forgotten by the audience, then it is sadly falling far short of its potential.
@dpolaristar46346 күн бұрын
@@camillesharem I can see your point but I'd argue the elements for the story, or the context (What I call the Marco) can be so very minimalist as to be argued to be part of the fight. A short film about Boxers or any competitive sport, and a few non verbal ques we can quickly established based off a combination of assumed cultural understanding and archetypes the "context" to create the "story" for the fight. Lotta old cartoons like with Popeye did that, Super Mario Bros while we might not see it as a story driven game, I'd argue the player overcoming the levels can be seen as the narration and the difficulty of the levels corresponds to rising and falling action, even though storywise its basically Knight, Princess, Dragon. Maybe its semantic nitpicking on my part but I'd argue we can reduce the context of your Macro story the fight takes place in, to a much greater degree and still get the impact to the audience, more so then we can reduce the fight/action itself. Or rather we are forced to use the fight/action itself as part of the rising/falling action. The Macro and Micro are shrinked. Reason this isn't apparently in longer stories, is making the story one giant fight scene/action scene. Even in Action movies would be exhausting and we need rest periods inbetween as the falling action. (This is one reason why I personally didn't really care for the Shibuya incident Arc in Jujutsu Kaisen, too many fights back to back with no rest time, and I ended up not caring about a lot of them, when actually I'd saw in isolation I like a lot of the fights better out of context.) But apparently I'm in the minority and everyone loves the Jujutsu Kaisen fights despite some very minimalist story to justify many of them. (I'd argue some like Sakuna vs Mahoraga didn't have the same flow and shifting of advantage I like and it devolved into sensory stimuli while others like Yugi vs Choto were more engaging.) I guess it gets more into less about fights, and more what are the mininum amount of things you can strip away to be engaging as a story. I like big epics novel series and long running shows, but I think you can get everything you need in a short film of 5-10 minutes and even have most of it action and get away with it being engaging.
@ART1984able6 күн бұрын
Yeah, each fight certainly needs it's own build up in order to be unique and something to remember in movie. The first fight is certainly memorable. The ordinary guy we follow finds himself in a literal hive of vampires taking in a shower of blood from overhead water sprinklers. Then we see HIM...the Daywalker, the bane of the vampires...Blade. Wesley Snipes put a lot of effort into the fights to make each and every one unique. I think people forget how much work goes into these things, especially the writing and planning components. Thanks for bringing attention to the aspect of these movies.

Anybody else find it really frustrating that J got a worse ending then the Solver? I'm not one of the people who were up in arms demanding that J should have been given a redemption arc, she wasn't significant enough to the story to deserve one, which is a whole other problem of its own. But why does the Solver get the happier ending of getting to hang out with the rest of the cast at the bunker after trying to wipe out the universe, killing billions of innocent human and drone lives, and J is left to rot alone in the Copper 9 badlands because...she's selfish? That's the one thing about the ending I genuinely hate, and hope if they ever return to this series and this world, they give her a nicer ending, because despite what J has done, even she deserves happiness.
@camillesharem7 күн бұрын
I think that comes down to how you decide to interpret the ending. Based on the visual clues, Uzi could be in a coma, or is slowly being possessed and taken over, it could all be a nice dream. Absolute Solver gets to hang around because it is an eldritch abomination and deified entity. The whole idea was that it couldn't be truly stopped for good. But as for J, I would have liked to have gotten more for her character in the end, but her trying to get off Copper 9 makes sense. There's no Tessa, boss, or anything else for her to stick around for given the events of episode 8. Had it been written differently, then she might have gotten a different ending.
@studior29627 күн бұрын
@@camillesharemI get that, but like knowing what we know, where is she realistically going to go if she gets that spaceship running. As far as we’re aware all of humanity has been wiped out, and the only remaining life is the main cast at Outpost 3, so if she goes out to space, she’ll likely find absolutely nothing that she can continue to take orders from. And despite what she did I do think that the cast would want to take her in, N would immediately try to get her back because he’s just that kind hearted, Uzi might have some qualms with it but overall would trust N’s judgement, with V the only one being the most against bringing her in, with J being the one to refuse their helping hand because she’s just that stuck up and stubborn, all this I would like to see in some future story to make up for J’s lack of an ending
@ShadowFred3868 күн бұрын
I remember when I first checked out this show, it was because a friend of mine made a drawing of N, and I immediately got hooked just for how humorous it was with episode 1, episode 2 felt a little rocky for me, but then episode 3 was when I truly started to get invested in the unfolding story, in the drama From N trying to uncover the truth of his past, Uzi wondering where they came from and why she’s having these weird powers, V trying to shield N from everything bad, everything just added up beautifully to create a conflict where 2 people wanted to uncover more, and 1 wanted to hold them back because of her fear. Episode 5 often gets called the worst episode I see, but I think episode 5 is great because of how it displays N’s past connection to V, as well as show just what V went through as likely the first drone Cyn experimented on to make a murder drone Uzi and N coming together made so much sense and the more I watch the series again, the more I understand it was what was bound to happen, but it doesn’t make the pain you can see in V’s eyes as she loses N in that way, all the more painful to view No indie show I’ve watched since murder drones ended has given me the same feeling this show has, it has a special place in my heart and I feel it’ll only stay there longer as the time flies
@camillesharem7 күн бұрын
Thank you! I absolutely agree that episode 5 is an underrated gem in the series. It puts a lot into context and really gives you that emotional gut punch for N and V. And it resonates with you again in episode 8 when you realize that V could have always had N if she hadn't been so scared and just thought her actions and choices through better. But she was so convinced that Absolute Solver was going to win that she trusted its word and just endured the agony of her mission instead of focusing on N like Uzi did.
@ShadowFred3867 күн бұрын
@ it’s one of the aspects of murder drones I’ve always loved, is that despite the fact N and V are on good terms at the end of the series, there’s always that look in V’s eyes from the way she treats Uzi and talks to her and N still that says she’s hurt by it The fact her and N never really get the talk they needed to reconcile, and N and Uzi are now happy together, really makes me think that even if V can’t have N, shes beginning to accept it’s her fault with how she also doesn’t want to kill Uzi anymore like in episode 4, 5, and a little bit of 6 until the end V, in my opinion, is who I would label as the most tragic character in murder drones just for the emotional pain she has, reliving through the time her and N had eachother, to now, literally not even a day later, seeing him happy with someone else

One thing I don't think most people touch upon is how Liams oldest projects:"Design","Yellow Halogen", "Black Dogs" influance his later works. I say that becouse when viewed in order they put everything in perspective. Every element of Murder Drones is contained in them. Spooky mansion? Check. Murder wifus? Check. Unique eldrichian tentacles? Check. Non stop fake out deaths? Yes you guess it, CHECK! Hell it even explains how solver might work since they have similar stuff to solver. Stuff like a memory conteoling monster that turns you into a semi-autunomous undead member of a hive mind. Or a pasites that give you godlike powers but its hard to tell wether you are you or a corpse pupetired by a parasite. It just doesn't end. Murder Drones is compolation of every idea, theme, worldbuilding and characters that existed in Liams brain since High Scholl.

@camillesharem7 күн бұрын
Hey! It's great to hear back from you! To answer your questions to the best of my knowledge: 1. I think that if Liam takes a hard look at what he did with this show and is critical, he'll realize he dropped the ball on a lot of stuff. He could, in theory, post stuff through Glitch Inn or on KZbin to help explain what happened between episodes or during them to help make more sense of the characters and close up plot holes, but I'm not sure if he'll do that. It would feel a lot like JK Rowling trying to retcon and save a lot of her weirded decisions. Like you said, if he apologizes, that might change some attitudes. others will attack him because they sense weakness. What I would recommend is for Liam to work with Glitch to behind the scenes specials that show off all the fun they had and help explain the decisions Liam made in telling his story. It wouldn't be a straight up apology, but it would bring closure to the problems. 2. V was definitely one of the main characters. From my understanding, she was one of Liam's favorites. And it's clear that she had a large part to play in the overall story. I think the problem lies in V and the plot of Murder Drones getting away from Liam. Uzi and N were always going to be endgame, but the development he gave to N and V and the dropped subplot of their shared history clearly indicates that both drones were supposed to have a much more developed relationship. And that alone would have thrust V even more into the spotlight. The biggest issue for me is how Liam didn't ever have V reveal what happened to N. And my reasoning for why that is a bad decision is because it never gave closer to them, it also makes V look a silly in retrospect, it also means that some wonderful possibilities for the plot were never capitalized on, and it leaves V hanging somewhere between main character and supporting character. Whew! I hope that makes sense! And thanks for your questions. :)

While I agree with you the writing of Murder Drones is really good, I think that's what makes it such a frustrating story overall is because it wasn't given the time it needed to give a proper payoff to all the story arcs it set up. There just wasn't enough time in eight episodes to do so. So much of it went unaddressed or was massively rushed from Doll's villain arc and the origins of JCJenson and what all role they played in the Solver's creation and destruction of multiple planets and systems. Nori and Yeva's backstory as worker drone test subjects in the Cabin Fever Labs was extremely underwhelming because of how little we got to see of it. We barely knew anything about N, V and J's time at Elliot Manor before they became disassembly drones. Not to mention the show had only a handful of human characters in it and the ones it did have were barely even shown. And that's not taken into account the other stuff like the purpose of the corpse spires, what Copper 9 was like before the core collapsed, Khan and Nori's relationship before Nori was supposedly killed by a murder drone. How Doll became the murderous psychopath after her parents died, etc. That to me is why I was so disappointed when I found out it was only going to get eight episodes. There was so much more the show had yet to explore and yet it just abruptly comes to an end. Ugh... -.- Don't get me wrong. I still love Murder Drones for all the good it did give us, but I just hate how it had so much more to give and for some odd reason, Liam wanted to just end it as soon as he could. It just feels so sad the more I think about it. Murder Drones should have been a multiple saga series like DBZ and it sadly won't happen now unless someone else picks up the IP and continues where it left off(which I don't see happening anytime soon)
@camillesharem10 күн бұрын
Again, double the number of episodes and a lot of the problems in pacing, characterization, answering the questions that NEEDED to be answered, all of that could have been addressed easily! I don't think we needed to see the humans. It was a creative choice on Liam's part, and it fits given the central focus on the drones and that Tessa was Absolute Solver/Cyn most of the time. But we definitely needed more concrete world building and a way to sort out the red herrings from the actual clues, if even just in retrospect. No one else is going to pick up the Murder Drones IP. It's very existence is an anathema to modern day Hollywood, and no indie creator is going to touch Murder Drones without Liam's express blessing. Glitch will hold onto it for a long while to come because it is a popular hallmark of their current business and they can keep using the characters in creative ways, i.e. the recent Halloween picture with Pomni and Cyn. That's why, looking back at Murder Drones, it should be a lesson for other aspiring creators about the things that they should take to heart and in consideration for their own projects. Let Murder Drones be a strong stepping off point, not the peak of indie storytelling!

Sometimes friendships or found family trope are the best kind of relationship and l can clearly see it in this show. I have not even sense a bit of romantic undertone watching the first few episodes (except for Kinger) And you are right Lars, while it would be sweet for some characters to be paired together. I feel like that's not the point of it and wouldn't fit the message of DC. The theme of this show It's finding purpose in this existential dread and finding people who understand, to lean on, and help you get through this internal mess.

Amen! There's nothing wrong at all with an amazing and healthy friendship! And it's been great watching Pomni find those relationships in the Digital Circus, even with all the odds stacked against her. I'm really excited to see where she is as a person in the fourth episode!
