My brother in law is a Landscape Architect. It's a real job that he had to get a Masters Degree for. Typically, they work on large projects like Corporate buildings and parks. Typically, they are planners and don't actually work the soil. So, yeah, it's a thing that you have to be highly qualified for.

I just learned today that Maggie Smith (Mother Superior) just passed away. She was so talented and had a very extensive resume. My favorite role she played was Professor McGonagall in the “Harry Potter” movies. I have never watched “Downtown Abbey,” but maybe I will check it out now. RIP Maggie 🙏🏾

As dumb as the film is, they do try to convey a message about affirmative action, reparations, and all around racism. They were doing their best for the 80’s but the absurdity of Mark being in blackface was more comical than thought-provoking for the masses . Everyone missed the mark.

Teri is portrayed as harsh, but her character has gained some sympathy from younger generations online (I’ve even seen #justiceforterry). Over the years, I’ve come to empathize with her a little more. Her family is always hitting her up for money, and 2 of her female relatives hooked up with her men. If my family treated me that way, I wouldn’t have a cheerful mood either 🤷🏾‍♀

Rocky is definitely the best, classic film-wise (if I really had to choose). If I had my way, I pick Rocky/Rocky II as a combination. Those two together are undisputed. III/IV have their moments, if Mick’s death doesn’t jerk tears, you’re simply cold & dead. IV from the time he gets in that Lamborghini till the end is the real movie. I’ll mention V only because of the very beginning in shower where the brain damage is noticed and then the fantastic montage/Elton song during the credits - the rest is awful…

I just want to say that I used to agree that the ending of this film felt like it was exploiting 9/11 to me but the further I get from it the less it feels that way to me as now I feel it was always meant to end that way. The title remember me evoked a question of why for me. Why are we remembering this person? And as you watch the film you get a few reasons that might be the case, but then you see the teacher and the date on the board. What is the thing we always say about 9/11? Never forget. So Remember Me, never forget me. But then it also hits you like a ton of bricks and evokes the same emotion from you as the actual date. I think, like the other 9/11 films made in 2006, perhaps it was released too soon. This movie would’ve been a great movie to release now when we have adults who were not alive when the event happened can go see it. It’s a great reminder that 9/11 was a normal day with normal people going about their lives until suddenly it wasn’t. I don’t think it’s exploitative or lazy or wasn’t planned for it to be about 9/11 in the end because By not referencing it until the end you’re able to get the real impact. If they had made the year obvious, or made it obvious the dad’s office was in one of the towers or made any reference, people would’ve been anticipating it, but we didn’t know it was coming in the real world, just as we didn’t know it was coming in the movie. I think it’s a brilliant concept and definitely wouldn’t have had the same impact if R.Pat’s character wasn’t one of the 3000 souls lost on that date. Because the tragedy didn’t discriminate so a random 20 year old there to meet with his dad unnecessarily dying is the point. Everyone who died did so unnecessarily and then being able to see the impact on those in his life really puts into perspective how prevalent the tragedy was since nearly everyone in NYC who lived there on 9/11 lost someone they knew in the towers. Idk I think it would’ve been better received if released now though rather than 9 years after when most people who would’ve watched it were old enough to remember it.

I love this film but even as a child I thought? Why does he need to get a job? He just went the distance with Creed. He could make a fortune. Touring. Giving talks. Motivational speeches to big coorporate business. High end expensive coaching. He's litteraly a money making machine hahaha.

I wrote a paper about this film in college. Think about it. You have the dismal ending of Vietnam, high unemployment, high inflation, energy crisis too. These guys can be looked at as unemployed abattoir workers, by which cannibalism is a means of entrepreneurship. So no major employer, the absence of a mother figure, mixed in with the story of ed grin gives you a hell of a movie.

I feel more for Teri quite honestly, because the whole family only sees & uses her as a cash cow. Momma Joe isn't a real good mother in my eyes she berates Teri but puts Maxine & Bird on a pedestal. If my daughter stole my other daughters bf she's getting her ass beat & now Teri has to see her ex not only marry her sister but she's stuck with him for the rest of her life. Teri isn't without her flaws too but her family takes advantage of her because she makes more money than them their mother should've been hard on Max & Bird they would be successful like their big sister. I had an idea for a sequel after the money has been found everyone takes their cut even those that shouldn't get it. Then the money runs out again the family turns to Teri this time it's the last straw for her. Teri is offered an out when she's offered a position from one of the bosses who's retiring in New Zealand Teri wanting to be free from her family & the drama takes the job. Then we get shocking news the family learns that Momma Joe wasn't the saintly matriarch they thought she was. Turns out she had cheated on her husband with another man it was her former high school sweetheart. He was her true love but he didn't feel the same way he returned to town when he came back briefly from the military. They hooked up she got pregnant she thought the pregnancy would make him stay but he told her he didn't love her like she wanted him to so he leaves. Momma Joe passes the baby off as her husband's they would go on to have 2 more daughters. The child that was born out of wedlock was Teri.

The song was also sampled by another huge R& B group called “ Black Street” which had a big hit a year before this movie and before 2pac’s version… Also the two guys in Miles group were not just Babyface’s brothers but apart of a very well known R&B group called “After 7” which were well known on black radio.. funny video as always but I wanted to give you guys some needed facts.

Recently found this channel after coming across your Blown Away review (the one with the Coreys) which has always been a guility pleasure flick for me. Loving the archives so far. WIth regards to your assessment of Terri's demeanor that more or less comes from the fact that she was the overachiever in the family. She was the one everyone expected the most out of and as a result she put extra pressure on herself to succeed. WIth that success came resentment as she became the defacto savior for the family whenever things were in shambles. Essentially she's bitter because she felt like she was always there for the familiy, but the family wasn't always there for her.
