Here we are a year later, and this is still one of my favorite renditions of this song! Thank you, and Merry Christmas folks!!

could you make a lesson on how to play this? This is great!

While we're free to perform "St. James' Infirmary" at venues which have a performance license through ASCAP and BMI, the distribution of a written arrangement in a workshop setting (print rights) could come into question due to copyright claims. It's my understanding that all copyrights for the song expire January 1, 2026.

@@LarryConger Could you just demo the chords? This is the best version of the song I have ever heard for dulcimer.

I would love to learn to play this version of Sweet Hour of Prayer. Can you tell me where to go to learn to play this song as lovely as you did?

kzbin.info/www/bejne/nHPbeouIncyeeac part 1, kzbin.info/www/bejne/Zp-lpo1trdurmNU part 2 I love larry conger, but I have found a great learning resource in Brett ridgeways learning for life. He has a kofi account where you can learn more songs. He also does learning videos on banjo, hammered dulcimer fiddle and concerina. I really love his teaching method! Above are 2 links to the sweet hour of prayer lessons.

So very beautiful! Thank you! Do you have the written arrangements for this? So worshipful..... that does not come on paper but from the heart.
Are you playing this on a chromatic dulcimer? If not, what key, please?
@LarryConger Жыл бұрын
These are standard diatonic fretboards (no extra frets). Elaine is playing a bass dulcimer. I am playing a standard. We are tuned to D flat instead of D and playing in the key of G flat.

@@LarryConger thank you very much! I am a fairly newbie to a mountain dulcimer. I bought two: a stsndard DAA with no extra second fret ( half fret) and also, a DAD with the extra half frets. I was cruising through KZbin to find videos to play along with. I can play by note and by ear, but mostly just play my dulcimers by ear right now. When I came across your video, I couldn't play along with it and figured it might have been in a different key. I was curious as to what key you were playing in. I have a capo for my DAD but I don't use it that much yet. I don't play every day, but need to learn my chords, etc. Thank you for your reply.
@LarryConger Жыл бұрын
@@journeyhawk1728 We will typically tune down a half step from DAD when performing. This places us in the key of D flat. Not only does this give our dulcimers a richer sound but it also helps Elaine to press the larger strings on her bass dulcimer. This particular arrangement is played in G flat while tuned in D flat.

@@LarryConger that's interesting! I am impressed by the sound of Elaine's bass dulcimer. I am very much a "bass" person. I have an electric bass guitar and just bought a Kala U-Bass last year. I would love to add to my collection at some point - getting a bass dulcimer, but I have no clue who builds them, or where to get one. I bought my DAA dulcimer from Warren May and my DAD from Terry McCafferty. Who are some good builders of bass dulcimers that I could check out?
@LarryConger Жыл бұрын
@@journeyhawk1728 I hesitate to recommend one builder over another simply because most are personal friends of mine. Some names include, Blue Lion, McSpadden, Clemmer, Folkcraft and Beede.
