Aditional tip, cd ~ is great, but "cd" is even better, basiclly if you use just cd without anything it will go to home.

One (or too) that I've found to be incredibly helpful us holding ctrl + shift + left arrow. It helps me skip through entire words much quicker. Once I get to the right spot, I'll then use ctrl + shift + del (not delete - del) to delete an entire word. It's helpful for me because I might be opening a bunch of pdfs with evince. I can leave the subdirectory structure unchanged, but modify the filename of the specific pdf. Ctrl + U is probably going to be super helpful, too, along with column t. 😀

ctrl+L is a terminal specific command. Your font size adjustments are also terminal specific. Why in a world with tmux and teamocil, would you use ctrl+Z to background an interactive program? Why not just alias apt to sudo apt? Your command search trick also only works with Bash in Emacs mode. Escape / is so much better. ctrl+U is another Emacs command. ctrl+A and ctrl+E also only work with Bash in Emacs mode. 0 and $ are so much easier. As are dd and cc to delete or change the line.

You don't save just like that! It's a great video and I learnt from it, but - quite dangerously misleading - actual saving is done nothing like the video shows. What video shows by /sbin/iptables-save is merely output to the screen and nothing else. Once you reboot your server all your rules will fly away! Unless you make them PERSISTENT by installing the relevant package (apt install iptables-persistent), which will make /etc/iptables dir for you, where YOU will have to save the rules like so: /sbin/iptables-save > /etc/iptables/rules.v4 (or rules.v6 should you do IPv6 ones). Only after that you will have actually saved your rules and they will persist on reboot.

This no longer works as the automated Rust server creation is not available. You can probably still manually set one up of you know how.

I am trying to use environment variables in .directory files, for apps pcmanfm-qt an dolphin file manager. I thought I was doing it right but it does not work. I have a work around using soft links but I rather use a $HOME or $PWD variable then point to the png file I need to use. Any ideas on why I can't get it to work? I know if I put the full path /home/username/Music/album/pic.png this works, but I want to use variables so if I put on another computer it will work universally via env,variable. please help if you can. thanks.
