Yeah, I really don't know what happened there - the bike seemed and felt straight, not sure if I landed in a hole or edge of a rut, but it pitched sideways and sorta knifed. Even in slo mo in original video it's hard to tell, think I landed on the edge of a rut and wasn't expecting the twist. My pegs are also really dully now, need to replace the screw-in posts to stick on better. Bold new experience though, but with long legs to the rescue. The goal was to be boring, but this / that was the one sketch moment of the weekend.

Nice inside lines to make passes early. Looks like intermediate speed to me clearing that back triple. Nice job 👍

This was fun to watch. I entered my first race at 47 years old. A few of us dads were taking our kids to the races so we figured why not? I'm 61 now and this just made me smile the whole time watching.

Thanks for the kind words! It's been a fantastic experience and I've met a wonderful pod through the OTHG vet racing series here in Cali. We like to share our content so we can watch each other's races - all part of the adventure! Also check out mcdonald43s' channel for great and enthusiastically narrated content throughout the year. :-) And if you're in California, the 58+ class is waiting for you! :-) 58 Intermediate: kzbin.info/www/bejne/sJ_WXp1mrbKZl6s 58 Expert: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gneygJqkmMmrY7c

Keeping your finger(s) on the grip until absolutely needed along with faster roll speed will help your arm pump. Most of the time you can shift without clutch anyways. With you riding a KTM adjust the levers so the reach isn't so much for you fingers to get to engage them. They are hydraulic so a little bit of pressure goes a long way. Biggest focus you should be making along with the elbows up is knees over foot pegs and really getting a good grip with the knees, and bend that waist bud! your attack position will follow suit. Great ride btw! top three is always well deserved!

Thanks. I have actually never gotten arm pump, surely mostly because I am balanced on the bike in acceleration and braking (one hand drill etc), but without being able to say with certainty, I also attribute it to having a couple fingers open so my forearm is not clenched. If I ever feel arm pump coming on, I relax my hand and open my fingers, and it goes away. Conversely, my friends that have it tend to hold on with four fingers. Summed up, I have heard and experienced the opposite, keeping a finger on the clutch adds an escape hatch, and reduces arm pump. I appreciate the input though.

Bro you dont need so many fingers on the levers.Try Shifting without a clutch. One finger the brake. Try not to commentate, pull the throttle and hang on
@chrisco_moto Жыл бұрын
I'm not sure if you mean too many fingers or too often. I think I use two on the clutch (never more) and one on the brake (KTM). The clutch is more as an escape hatch where if the bike got away, I'd clutch in. I don't know if it's imagined or not, but I also find that with at least my index fingers on the levers, I open up and relax my hand more (I don't get arm pump). I can see that I need to work on my flow though "one throttle", and that I'm somehow fearing the corners and not consistently sitting forward enough, so I"m blowing the ruts and having lousy and slow corner exits. In a race, I try to slow down a bunch to avoid mistakes, but that also breaks my flow. Everything goes out the window when I'm racing, so I'm mentally / verbally trying to remind myself of what I need to do, and not the race itself. I probably just need more race-time to relax more, so it feels more like practice.

@@chrisco_moto feathering the front brake pulls you into the rut with the help of feathering the clutch as to not over power out. I'm practicing on using just one finger each (suzuki cluthes like butter even with Hinson springs)but I know a lot of pros that use 2 on the clutch. I also just started racing and am not one to give advise except what I learn from AJ Catenzaro and Jett Laurence. Keep moving up 👍

@@kellyclark7762 Honestly, I put the video out lay-bare my riding, study it myself, and for feedback from the inter-web, so all that is appreciated. I do study all the AJ / MXFactory / Ryno stuff, but it's harder to remember it all and know what you are doing, hence the inner chatter. I have used the the front brake, might have it on super lightly, but my bigger problem is not coming in fast enough to coast the apex. I can do it after repeated passes on one corner in practice, but need to get more confidence to uncork it in a race. I did notice though that by the fourth moto, I was getting through the left inner 180 better, but still need to drill it in more practice. Cheers

@@chrisco_motoI look back at mine as well and think what was I waiting for . My beginner races last year are on youtube. Kelly Clark #556 morman lake. I did better in sept there.The July race was my first ever so I let them go on the hole shot. My rm 250 was a slow year. 02. I still could have revd it better
