Your dad is Robert Rial? I thought he was more than the lead singer, but also the song writer and bandleader. I think he's a greatly under-appreciated, under-recognized and great artist and musician who writes amazing and beautiful songs. You can certainly tell him I said so and I'm sure I'm not the only one who thinks so. I'm very sorry we no longer have Bakelite 78 here in Seattle or elsewhere, but I hope he's doing well. So this is kind of surreal...we were just looking at this video before a Shmootzi songs concert tonight and thought...we were at this! And starting at :44 and running for a minute, there we are right in front of the photographer. We pop up later, too, but how strange! I'm in a black bowler with a long blue coat and my gf is in orange. Peace thru music, friends.

i’m really confused, every source i have ever seen states that circus contraption disbanded in 2009! do they actually still perform? what a treat to see these two playing together!

They did. This wasn't 'Circus Contraption' as such, just 'the Circus Contraption Band' and I'm not exactly sure why this show was cause for a reunion, but it was, and if there's been another since, I didn't hear about it.

@@hornostar Thank you for noticing. 😁 One of the truisms I have learned about shooting video, especially of music, but really any kind, is that people will watch bad video with good audio a lot longer than they'll watch good video with bad audio. I use studio recording quality mics on my rig... and now that it's possible to do so, (new tech) record in 32-bit float audio. It makes a difference.

My favorite band to play at Honk!Fest West during my involvement with the festival. They have a couple of absolutely great albums out. I've seen them a number of time - and they're MUCH tighter than this joyfully raucous performance might lead you to believe. Their rendition of "I'll Fly Away" (from their A-Salted album) is among the most enjoyable I've yet heard from any performer(s). I think the first time I saw them was on the lawn of the Sonoma County Courthouse - with an unlikely crowd of upscale wine enthusiasts dancing like hippies in the late 60's. It was a joy to have them at HF!W in 2015 - hope they return sometime soon.

Okay Joe. I just want your honest musical opinion about this most recent Smash Hit. And please give your professional opinion in the most sophisticated musical terms that you yourself actually know. Serious: Just released four days ago by an absolute MAGA tyrant who promises that Donald Trump will rule America until he dies. This guy does not have a band.
