It didn't come out because it was a development hell, had an imposible release date, no resourses or help from Sega, many builds that didn't mash together and didn't even work on a Saturn, one of the builds was taken down by Yuji Naka because it was based on one of his games, and the cherry on top one of the developers almost died due to the amount of crunch and stress.

No, it would have been good for the time and would have been successful, but would have aged poorly. Mario 64 wasn't out yet, so 3d games hadn't been solidified yet.

At the time the general consensus was that Sonic only works in 2D, and people wanted Sega to retire Sonic and replace him with a brand new mascot. Much like how Sonic once replaced Alex Kidd. Sonic Adventure revived the franchise, and showed people that Sonic can work in 3D.

a lot of the world's hunger is caused by droughts which is caused by global warming - if you chose global warming you could fix both these issues to an extent
