I don't understand why you're calling it cheap it's not cheap in my book 600 is a lot of money to me. If you don't like them why are you doing a video on them

I love them, I use them on my personal bikes. I'm sorry you're poor, I am too, but in the world of springer, $600 is nothing. Go look up an actual nice springer from Harley, Sugar bear, Denver, HF, or Paughco

Oil hole goes outwards? I heard it doesn’t matter but also heard it does matter
@DWchopshop
@DWchopshop Ай бұрын
Ironheads, it should be pointing out at you, early sportsters it should be pointing out at you. Recent ones, it doesn't matter. But it's so simple to do. Instead of remembering the specific years, just point the oil hole out. All your doing is essentially aligning the hole so the oil it can suck the most oil in. Here's a tech manual copy pasta. In Evolution Harley-Davidson engines, the oil pump drive gear features a small hole designed to enhance lubrication. This hole allows pressurized oil to flow through, providing additional lubrication to the gear teeth and surrounding components. By facilitating this targeted oil flow, the design helps reduce friction and wear, contributing to the longevity and efficient operation of the engine's oiling system.

I had to learn about clocking the heads the hard way when first obtaining my 76 sportster. Had constant issues with intake leaks because of a previous owner who didn't orientate the heads to be flush with the intake.

Can’t use stock rotor caliper had to buy a 11.5 rotor because I had to use there caliper bracket which stock does not fit and anchor rod I sent an email asking which caliper and rotor do I have to buy they sent me a link to a 450 doller caliper . I’m sorry TCBros. . But I will say I switched to them bought my oil tank and chain conversion kit from TC . Thanks for this video

Inside outside micrometer, or just micrometer, or calipers, verniers, vernier caliper are all used interchangeably in every industrial setting I've ever seen. Google micrometer, inside outside, Mike's pop up first, then the traditional outside mikes your talking about.

My 1998 Harley Davidson Fatboy does not have a mechanical advance unit. What should I do?
@DWchopshop
@DWchopshop 4 ай бұрын
You can add a mechanical advance fairly easily. It should say in the instructions included with the ignition the exact part numbers you need if I remember correctly. If you haven't purchased the ignition yet I believe you can get a pdf of the instructions from dynas website, or even jp cycles if you look the ignition up.

I've always heard to set the exhaust a little looser than the intake due to the heat of the exhaust valve . Do you agree with that?

Not really. The whole head is aluminum, and both valves are steel. They will heat soak similarly.

@@1badombre82 No, this is a 92 Harley sportster 883. I've had a few boulevards in the past. Mine have all been 1100 (I think) and I definitely enjoy them. The hard part about making them q proper bobber or chopper is the shaft drive. That makes it really hard to change frame angles.

Thanks for posting this it helps me a lot I have a 1980 FLH. I plan to give it the once over this winter but I got it only a couple of months ago and have been doing quite a bit to it to make it roadworthy.. which I try and document on my channel.. I'm not much for editing it's just start stop.. it has solid lifters now but the lifters don't even look the same.. the front exhaust looks different.. then the others and so I picked up a conversion type kit from Wheels through Time.. they sell their extra stuff I guess.. I don't know if it's a real conversion it just happens to be lifter blocks and tapets .. I haven't had a shovelhead since the early eighties so this is a good refresher thank you....

I have 12 v going to the coil and when I clip the test light into the trigger side of the coil it lights up immediately. Doesn’t matter what position the dyna ignition is rotated to. Any ideas ? Not getting any spark from the coil.
@DWchopshop
@DWchopshop 5 ай бұрын
It's really hard to answer wiring questions without seeing what's going on, but the only thing I can see going on here would be clipping the light to the wrong side of the coil. One side gets 12 volts all the time, the other side gets 12 volts when it fires. The side with a constant 12v has a wire coming from the ignition switch (key)
