Thanks! Try good front tires and shitty rear tires in the rain, then I think also a 316ti will work pretty well on the streets even with open diff :) I also heard that the tarmac in eastern europe isn't the most grippiest so that would help as well

overall what mods do you have? Car looks pretty stock in drift behaviour. Think that few simple changes could make it drive sideways easier and in bigger angle. Ofcourse props for improving driving skills. Following you from some time (cause I had compact too :) ) and you have improved a lot
@quirky_but_quickАй бұрын
Thanks! For a detailed list of all mods please check the lower part of the video description. 🙂 I'm basically drifting a tracktool and I like the multi use aspect of it. I also don't have the possibility to trailer a car to events so non street legal mods aren't possible at the moment unfortunately. That would be for sure an angle kit, a hydro and less rear camber for better drifts. I'm planning to reduce weight, increase front caster further for more aggressive transitions and perhaps switch to my daily as pure street legal drifter with less rear camber in the future. A first test of it was succesful lately and a video will follow soon
@FaworDriftsАй бұрын
@@quirky_but_quick damn, didn't see the discription 😆sorry. I drive my Touring about 300km ranges to the mountains, and overall I made every event for 7 years without trailer 🙂 So I know what you mean. Maybe try just something like I made in Touring. Rack spacers for bit more lock, poli acentric lolip mounts and camber top mounts. You can adjust more camber just for the event and reduce it back to the street. Bit of camber for sure helps the almost stock front to settle on the ground in lock a bit better. But ofcourse nothing will change the car like proper angle kit...at least the adaptors.
@quirky_but_quickАй бұрын
@@FaworDriftsyes, I heard about rack spacers and they are quite an undercover mod, I'll think about it 😉 I already bought eccentric z4m lower control arm bushings and they just wait here to be installed. Camber/caster plates are already in the car due the st xta and turned to generate more caster and camber. At the moment it's +6° caster and -2.3° camber

Hello! I've seen that you have been doing lots of track days and drift events really awesome! What are your engine mods that you have that improve your reliability? Wich is the engine oil that you normally use? I also bought a 325ti and I want it to be as reliable as yours hehehe
@quirky_but_quickАй бұрын
Thanks, my engine is stock, but I replaced every leaking gasket, the vanos sealing rings, the maf sensor, the lambda sensors so far. Just maintenance to get full stock power back first. I'm running rowe synth rs 5w40 which works pretty well as it withstands high temperatures for a 5w40 oil and doesn't get too thin. I think I was also lucky to buy a very good maintained engine as I never had excessive oil consumption and very few deposits under the valve cover

@quirky_but_quick9 ай бұрын
Danke dir!

Is it reliable ? I want to buy one at 168k km for 2500 euro what do you think?
@quirky_but_quick9 ай бұрын
If it doesn't have much rust and the engine got regular oil changes I would say it's a very good price! A 325ti is very reliable if it was taken care of and the rear axle carrier panel isn't a problem compared to the other E46 body types. Just check the cooling system and replace the expansion tank if it's still the first one

I have this 318ti with auto gearbox and I really need a solution to the auto upshift issue. Still can't believe BMW would have this garbage feature just taking control away from driver. The auto would be just fine for my purposes, if it didn't slam a new gear in when you don't want that. Can cause dangerous fishtailing at the worst moment etc.

It's great for keeping your car dry through the winters. I can compare the two family cars and the one without AC is always fogged and nasty damp inside during winter.

garbadge open diff is main cause of snapping rear end on lift off, in my opinion. when u lift and weight transfers, especially in cornering even if slightly, rear is so loose that its dangling around like nothing when there is no interlocked rear two wheels. if there was 1.5 or 2 way LSD in it, it would act like feathers on arrow, it makes rear end planted and stable. that's my assessment of stock e46 behavior when DSC is OFF, it is very dangerous to drive on limits with E46 DSC off, not for rookies. it can snap pretty easily and send u elsewhere. (am 330ci owner, I've done my share of stupidity with it)
@quirky_but_quick Жыл бұрын
I'm not sure if it's the main issue, but it's true that a proper LSD helps a lot in this situation 👍
@reecemoodley2357 Жыл бұрын
Very true, I own a 325i compact with a stock open diff and no ASC or DSC due to the ABS pump failing a while ago. Just driving at moderate pace and then abruptly lifting off and braking at a decreasing radius turn caused the car to snap, some over correction by me resulted in fish-tailing (tank-slapper) until I stabilised it.
@wtfronsson Жыл бұрын
I don't think a Compact will have a "planted and stable rear end" without use of sorcery. Not on the Ring with high speed cornering and uneven track. It's one of those cases where you better rebuild the entire suspension and modify chassis greatly. Or just get an E46 proper. Otherwise you are always "unstable" compared to your options.

Good choice! I've changed neither diff nor gearbox as it's both already good in the 325ti. But I can't speak for the 318ti about this point to be honest.
