All of the “magicians” in this thread who are acting like magic critics - “can see through all of his moves”, “not world class”, etc. have never performed on a FISM stage or have been recognized zero times for their magic. Just fuck off and appreciate the performance.

What a total badass. That last 60 seconds was God tier.

The comments are ridiculous. If you can do it then upload a video of yourself doing it or just keep to yourself. I doubt that most the guys commenting as if they know it all could actually do it.

this is probably his sloppiest act and it could win competition still.

I think the power of his performance is not in the types of moves he executes (because most of them are very simple sleights of hand: loading, concealing, palming, etc.), but the manner in which he executes them. The execution is incredibly clean, elegant and the transitions are seamless. You know exactly what he's doing at every point, but you can never actually see the objects that he's holding. That, I think, is a level of sleight of hand that magicians would appreciate because they know how difficult the cleanness is.

I think a great trick would to show an empty ring, then pull another magician out of it who will then himself pull another magician out of a seemingly empty ring which he produced from nowhere, and then the new magician duplicates the feat until you have a stage full of increasingly famous magicians, and then as a finale, the last magician pulls you out of his empty ring bringing the trick around full circle.

0:45 Oldest card vanishing trick in the world. If he actually claims to be world class he wouldn't use these kiddy tricks.

ALL these people talking about how it's so bad, I personally challenge you to set up any camera and delicate it, and if you actually do so I will personally attempt to set you up against Jason Latimer himself assuming you actually manage to be able to do it
@HeyJD1237 жыл бұрын
You don't have to be able to make a movie to be a movie critic. You also don't have to be a magician to be a magic critic. Some tricks are just badly performed no matter whether you can do it or not. The trick being ambitious doesn't suddenly make it invulnerable from criticism.

Tom Mullica was the best cigarette manipulator /magician and comedian, who passed away February 18, 2016. I just hope you aren't a low down identify thief taking credit for a dead man's outstanding achievements

AMAZING PRESENTATION of a manipulation act. Music, originality, creativity, construction, charisma, and he put so much passion.
@barthez366639 жыл бұрын
He won and his act is one of the best ive ever seen. Why? Cos it is well structured and it engages audience, its like watching a story, manipulation isnt about only producing countles playing cards without structure, and reason. Nowadays many magicians compete on creating act that show of skill of producing cards in more and more fancy way but it mostly good looking for magicians only and spectators can be bored to death. Focus on spectators experience not magicians. Simpler is most often better in magic. Unless youre magician to magicians. Peace

What's with all these negative posts? Mr. Latimer is world class. He gets great response from his audience and a great ovation at the end. His act isn't polished enough? Give your head a shake.
@195310028 жыл бұрын
+vernonclassic You're right. I see what you mean. In fact even though I know his laser routine is good, it's not for me because I don't care for the electronic look and yet I still know it's good. Even with this routine I've seen far better manipulation acts. I guess what I like about it is the sense of confidence he shows.

As magicians, we are capable of seeing sleights. We understand moves and punch lines in magic. Who cares if he flashed. First off, you’re watching this on KZbin. If you were in that audience you’d have a much different opinion. His misdirection to hide loads or palms will be much stronger on a lay audience. Common, you know this. Quit being a douchebag.
