I've had great results with pressing roses! Just keep the pieces you're pressing as thin as possible! With white roses I find that they brown after a while but I think they're still beautiful!

How long can I leave a wedding bouquet in the frig before pressing?
@sundaysunshine
@sundaysunshine 9 күн бұрын
Thanks for the question! You won't want to leave it in the fridge for too long since you're more likely to have better outcomes pressing fresh flowers. Just keep an eye out for it!

I pressed my hydrangea petals for 3 weeks, after the first two they looked great but now they’re all brown and lost all their color
@sundaysunshine
@sundaysunshine 24 күн бұрын
I no! I know it can be discouraging to find flowers brown, it happens to me as well! It could've been those petals were older, they had more moisture than others, the placement in the press, etc. It will take some trial and error to get it right but sometimes it's just the flower! You can start with my two FAQ videos: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jnq3mniBZr93irc kzbin.info/www/bejne/anSZnpx9n66rd5I The beauty is in the process! Best of luck!

How long total did yhey saty in the book or press? Days, weeks?
@sundaysunshine
@sundaysunshine Ай бұрын
Thanks for the question! It usually takes weeks (3-8 weeks) in a press or book for flowers to dry completely. Don't be afraid to check on your flowers often, since that's the only way you'll know. Once the whole flower feels like paper, it's ready!

You can use blackberries as well to dye things. Living here in southeast Kentucky some of the old timer hillbillies around here would tell stories of not only using old coffee or tea to dye things but strawberries and blackberries ❤

How do you dry it afterwards, to prevent it rotting?
@sundaysunshine
@sundaysunshine 3 ай бұрын
I keep my pressed flowers in between sheets of paper in a binder or in air tight containers with silica beads to absorb any extra moisture. It's important to keep your flowers away from moisture and humidity to prevent it from molding. I have a video on how I store my pressed flowers,I hope this helps: kzbin.info/www/bejne/q3zCeKuohriUqKcfeature=shared

When I was living in Vietnam, the humid weather makes it hard to dry flowers and they often ended up molded. But in the UK it only takes me 2 days for my flowers to dry. Gonna make a bunch to keep as memories

If the flowers are pressed successfully there is no mold or unpleasant smell! Naturally pressed flowers will continue to change color, but nothing alarming!

Which one is best to press flowers microwave or Iron box?
@sundaysunshine
@sundaysunshine 4 ай бұрын
I would only avoid white flowers to press in the microwave because they're more likely to yellow or brown! I have limited experience in pressing flowers in the microwave because it's my least favorite method overall, so you'll have to experiment and have fun with it!

How has your experiment with cotton cloth gone? Does it press and reuse well?
@sundaysunshine
@sundaysunshine 4 ай бұрын
I love using the cotton fabric! For larger flowers, I use paper between the flower and fabric to avoid the imprint of the fabric onto the flowers, but it's just a personal preference!
