Надо будет попробовать. Спасибо за идею! Можно ещё с завязанными глазами.

That is such an illuminating way to explain why such tools need to be made. I confess to bring resistant to doing this, but I can now see why I need to do this.

How do you calculate for a square concertina book? Doe the paper have to be a square instead of a rectangle? Love your expressive work and especially your color palette!

What is the key measurement to make the square pages? I’m stumped mathematically 😮
@debbiemackinnon72025 ай бұрын
You simply measure the width of the paper and divide by 3. Make 2 folds on the short side folding paper into 3 horizontally. Then fold other way into four ( fold paper in half and then in half again. This turned into squares for me on an A2 sheet

What is the weight of the paper?
@debbiemackinnon72026 ай бұрын
It’s 200gsm mixed media paper. Heavier paper can get hard to fold

And size? You ended up with a sq book using a rectangle sheet?

I thought I saw you tape the folds on the opposite side of the book. Is that correct? If so, what kind of tape do you use and do you paint on the opposite side. I love the end result!! Thx.
@debbiemackinnon72026 ай бұрын
I’ve used a brown paper tape here but I sometimes use white medical paper tape. Don’t usually paint on the other side but you could

Thanks Debbie. The info on the tape was very useful. Looking forward to cutting up one of my old paintings to make a concertina.

I split the joined pages and rejoined at back with brown paper tape to create a continuous concertina

Wow every single time you turn out a piece that just does it for me; so scrumptious! A visceral response. Your process is meditative, instructive and reassuring that even you have your struggles (like all the great artists!) and have to rescue parts you’re not happy with. It’s such a learning for me - especially how you bring back a piece that’s not going where you want it to. You have encouraged me to just go for it and see what turns out. I do it for my own pleasure - not in any way to exhibit or sell but I do love it. Thanks for your generosity because I can’t afford to pay for this knowledge and tuition.

Hi Deborah, yes I do hail from UK and I spent my early years in Essex… did you know me then? I moved to Australia 29 years ago All best Debbie
@deborahdickens-zp9zr Жыл бұрын
Well I did wonder if we had been at the same school back in the early 60s. I went to Little Thurrock Primary school in Rectory Road, Grays. My maiden name was Littlechild and if my memory serves me well I believe we were in the same year and the only two Deborah’s in the school. Is this you? Sorry if it’s not but I love your work and although I never went to Art School I to enjoy painting. Best wishes Debbie.

After you've folded your book, do you glue the 3 loose pages together or do you cut pages and then glue? Love your inspiring videos!
@debbiemackinnon7202 Жыл бұрын
Hi Paul, glad you enjoyed this. I do glue to extra 3 pages together. But sometimes I split the book at the back and join with tape. Both options have advantages… Have fun Debbie
