it is CRIMINAL that there are absolutely zero live versions of "conversation piece" which is probably one of her most beautiful songs ever.

This album is impeccable. The production goes SO hard on EVERY track, Brad really outdid himself. This is such a natural progression from Threads, which, by the way, was VERY pop as well, just had more guitars and darker tones (god, just listen to the drums/percussion). If you think those heavier aspects "elevated" Threads from pop music, I'd like to introduce you to Nirvana. Yes, Nirvana is straight-up pop music with gritty guitars, angsty lyrics, and massive drums -- their song structure couldn't possibly get more pop, hence their taking of the world by storm. Pop Works for people, and so many have deluded themselves into thinking they're somehow "above" it, when in reality everyone who isn't studying Chopin and Bach are listening to pop on a daily basis. Pop is magic, period. In an interview Cacie said something along the lines of how they'd Always wanted to make pop music, that pop is useful because it literally puts you in a better mood. It's infectious. Now, Now respects the power of pop music by ensuring genuine, deep-felt personal emotions are intrinsically tied into their work so as not to dilute it or have it come off as "forcing you" to feel good the way commercial pop usually does. Probably not consciously, as I'm sure they're just doing what feels right to them. Nevertheless, the result is something that comes off as conscious pop that respects itself and the genre as a whole. Having art come before commercial success is still a goal that is palpable in the album, serves as an anchor, and anyone who thinks otherwise needs to check themselves because we're clearly not listening to the same thing. So yes, it's pop. And it's better than Threads. *shrugs* Sorry. Preference is one thing, quality stands on its own. It's intellectually dishonest to say "everything is just preference, including quality." We humans know damn well what's pleasing to the human ear and what isn't, and Then everything comes down to preference, and it's stupid to pretend otherwise just to defend dumb, intellectually lazy "preferences" hardly based in a reality outside of nostalgic bias. It's fine to say "it's not for me." It's not fine to say "this album sucks." Because it simply doesn't. You just don't like it. And that's fine. But it doesn't suck. Stop pretending something isn't high-quality just because it doesn't hit your particular feels. I personally /prefer/ Threads. Why? Because it takes me back to the years it carried me through immense, bedridden depression and quite literally served as a struck match in a dark, dark place. I also just straight up prefer the music. *srhugs* It's the perfect balance between alt-rock and pop and it hits me just right. But, clearly, Saved is the superior album as a whole. Every time I put on my good headphones to listen to these tracks I just about lose my mind because it's so damn good. I can't quite "feel it" as much as Threads, but that's because of who I am and what my /personal preferences/ are, how I personally respond to certain kinds of music. TL;DR: You're less than half the music fan you claim to be when you write off entire genres of music (looking at you, people who hate rap and country on principle), as you don't understand the meaning of "preference." There is quality to be found within the bounds of what makes a song/album simply Work, regardless of how you personally feel about it. This album is the shit. It's been 3 years or so and I can't Wait for the next one.

I'm just glad they dropped another album, and that they're both unique and with the times. If I want 2013-2016 emo/indie vibes, I listen to Threads, if I want ambient dance tracks and a cohesive piece, I listen to this. (though I find both of these albums to be disjointed)

I doubt the band will ever read this comment but, I am so grateful for them and this album. I found out about during a time when I was confused and frustrated. I changed the way I was and I became a braver, less blue person. The feeling that I got when listening to this music for the first time is indescribable. I felt sad, happy and hopeful all at the same time. It was a feeling I had never felt before, and a vibe that somehow motivated me to change for the better, even if the album itself is quite depressing. The reason that I am who I am know is thanks to this music. I sought out more media that could elicit the distinct feel of this album. I changed the way I wanted to live the remainder of my youth thanks to it. I wasn’t so scared of being myself anymore. Thank you. Thank you so much Now, Now. I owe so much to you guys.
