I see Merab vs Umar a similar fight to Belal vs Shavkat. One is a pressure wrestling that can take down his opponent easily but is a decision machine, and the other is much more of a complete fighter that finishes many of his fights

I think Merab is a much better wrestler than Umar in terms of taking down his opponents. Dude just flips them so easily while Umar is more like Khabib in terms of needing to be close to the cage and use his body weight and punches/knees to actually make his opponent go to the ground. The problem with Merab is that in many occasions it seems impossible to him to control his opponent in the ground, while Umar can do it easily

Islam is better EVERYWHERE compared to Tsarukyan. I think Arman will fight well and he’s improved, but I don’t see a world where Arman beats Islam. Skill for skill, Islam is just a better striker, better wrestler, grappler, better fight IQ, better octagon control, etc. if I was a betting man I’d put the house on Islam. Probably by 5 round UD.

Skill for skill has never defined who would win a fight. Style and approach is a much more defining aspect, both guys are so well at countering opponents that I expect a chess match w Islam having the bigger moments of the fight but arman is a way better kicker, and a much more dynamic striker overall. Arman is also so much better at scrambling than Islam (partly because islams usually the aggressor). To say he’s better at every aspect is such a simplistic way of looking at MMA

I don’t necessarily disagree. Sean is so unidimensional in his fighting style that the fact that he became a champion must be explained by the fact that his TD defense is on point (at least until he faced a serious grappler like Merab)

the best style is the khabib style, completely mauls opponents and drowns them with pressure, takes essentially no damage. Obviously its important to be good at everything, but I would say you need to be really high level at two to be a real force. Since everyone can do everything now, I generally bet on the really strong grapplers and wrestlers because they can control where the fight goes.
